The 42-year-old pop singer’s “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” gave a strong showing for the first weekend in December, historically a slow one for movies.
It is the first time in two decades a film has opened to more than $20 million on the weekend after the Thanksgiving weekend, according to AMC Theatres, which distributed the film.
