Dubai, UAE CNN —It’s 3am at the VIP airport terminal of Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub and an ultra-long range aircraft is readying for take-off. The luxury, 14-seat private jet is headed for Europe, just as soon as its main passenger and his entourage arrive. It’s an elite club that enjoys private jet travel, which can cost anywhere from $50,000 to $200,000-plus for a single leg. Mouallem said the private aviation industry was accustomed to “different kinds of shifts across the world with banning private aviation,” insisting that the focus should be not on banning flights but ensuring greater adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). So that’s really an operator decision and a supplier decision,” Avetkiyan said, adding that her customers shouldn’t feel guilty about the environmental impact of private aviation.

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun testifies before a subcommittee of the Senate Energy and National Resources Committee on the company's safety culture, following a number of recent incidents on Boeing airplanes, Washington, DC, June 18, 2024. A U.S. Senate panel investigating Boeing 's safety culture on Wednesday faulted the planemaker's quality practices and oversight by the Federal Aviation Administration citing documents obtained in an ongoing investigation. The Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which is holding a hearing Wednesday with FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker, said Boeing workers continue to feel pressure to prioritize speed of production over quality. Boeing said it has "taken important steps to foster a safety culture that empowers and encourages all employees to share their voice, but it will require continuous focus." The FAA did not comment but Whitaker said at a House hearing Tuesday that Boeing needed to undertake significant safety culture improvements that might not be completed for years.

CNN —Astronomers have observed a massive pair of jets releasing from a supermassive black hole 7.5 billion light-years from Earth. The megastructure spans 23 million light-years in length, making these black hole jets the largest ever seen, according to new research. Black hole jets can accelerate radiation and particles close to the speed of light, causing them to glow in wavelengths visible to radio telescopes. The massive black hole jets could help answer both. Martijn Oei (pictured), lead author of the new study, and his colleagues will continue their search for massive black hole jets.

Instead of owning a life insurance policy directly, they take out a policy and put it inside a trust. The irrevocable life insurance trust (ILIT) collects the death benefit, pays the tax bill, and distributes whatever is left according to the insured individual's wishes. For an ultra-rich taxpayer with a $10 million life insurance policy, using an ILIT could save $4 million in taxes. Make sure you're getting a life insurance policy that makes financial sense.

First, a traditional pension plan that pays retirees, or their survivors, a fixed amount of money every month until they die, known as a defined benefit plan. Far less than 1% have only a traditional pension plan. The loss of the traditional pension plan at Boeing 10 years ago is one of the issues driving the strike this year. New York CNN —The strike at Boeing by 33,000 members of the International Association of Machinists union, which reaches its seventh day today, has already cost the company and workers $572 million, according to an estimate from Anderson Economic Group. “The first week of losses for Boeing are substantial, but they’ll pale in comparison to what comes in the following weeks,” Anderson told CNN. The strike at Boeing (BA), on the other hand, has yet to have a measurable economic impact on airlines so far, Anderson said. The losses for workers, primarily the 33,000 union members who have gone on strike, as well as for suppliers come to about $117 million in the first week. The strike will also cost about $10 million in local losses, including at businesses near the plants, according to Anderson.
