Aug 2 (Reuters) - A federal jury on Wednesday voted to sentence Robert Bowers to death for killing 11 worshippers at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life synagogue in 2018, the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history, the New York Times reported. Bowers was convicted of 63 counts, including 11 counts of obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs resulting in death. Two weeks ago, during the first phase of the sentencing portion of the trial, the jury found Bowers to be eligible for the death penalty. 50% of Americans surveyed in a new Gallup poll said their financial situations are worsening. Lower-income Americans were the most likely to say their finances have deteriorated. Low-income Americans were the most likely to say their situation has deteriorated, according to Gallup, with 61% of respondents responding negatively. Upper-class Americans were more likely to say their situations remained the same or improved, per the poll. In 2020, 74% of respondents said they expected their financial situations would improve.

In a response late Thursday, the defendants repeatedly claimed the Trump Organization can't be sued. 'Trump Organization' is branding shorthand, not a legal entity, they said repeatedly in 5,000 pages of response. The New York lawsuit names Donald Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, former company CFO Allen Weisselberg, its former payroll executive Jeffrey McConney, and entities under the Trump Organization umbrella.
