CNN —Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh has married her longtime partner Jean Todt in a ceremony in Switzerland – nearly two decades after the French businessman first proposed to her. We love you and here’s to many more to come,” the Malaysian actress wrote. The post included images of the two exchanging rings and another of them sitting snuggled together on a bed decorated with flower petals. Todt posted the framed image on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, over the weekend, thanking long-time Bond producer Barbara Broccoli for the “touching” wedding gift. Todt, who made his name as a World Rally Championship co-driver, is also a former president of Formula 1’s governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile.

Paris CNN —Back in the 1980s, when I first began living in Paris, I once had to clamber onto the tiny exterior staircase that surrounds the Eiffel Tower and is used to paint or repair it. Still, at that time, nothing could have impelled me to risk a swim in that other iconic Parisian sight — the Seine River — not without a full biohazard suit. Today’s Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has made a similar promise, and local authorities have put 1.4 billion euros ($1.55 billion) behind it. Paris has indeed made strides in cleaning up its famous river — water samples from June showed “excellent results” in complying with European regulation, according to city hall. During a recently released conversation on Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett’s podcast “Smartless,” Elba addressed the many times he’s been asked about replacing Daniel Craig in the James Bond film franchise. Lots of people have rooted for Elba to be the first Black James Bond, and he said he was aware of the compliment in that. “It’s like being named sexiest man.”(People magazine named Elba “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2018.) “Those that weren’t happy about the idea made the whole thing disgusting and off-putting because it became about race,” Elba said.

The events playing out in Russia feel like the trailer for the next James Bond movie: Vladimir Putin’s ex-chef/ex-cyberhacker/recent mercenary army leader, Yevgeny V. Prigozhin, goes rogue. Prigozhin, a character straight out of “Dr. So Prigozhin opted for a plea bargain, arranged by the president of Belarus, and called off his revolution — sorry, didn’t mean it, I was just trying to point out some problems with the Russian Army — and everyone called it a day. It’s still not clear if the stone-hearted Putin conveyed any direct threat to his old pal Prigozhin, but as Putin’s former bag man, Prigozhin clearly wasn’t taking any chances. Aston Martin pulls out of slow lane in EV race

LONDON, June 26 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Aston Martin Lagonda’s (AML.L) route to viability is a brain-teaser worthy of Q, James Bond’s quartermaster famous for turning everyday objects into whizzy tools. The 2.6 billion pound carmaker’s latest deal with $11 billion Lucid (LCID.O) shows the marque made famous by the fictional spy is, however, making progress. The deal with Lucid – majority-owned by the PIF, handily enough – will make Aston’s ambition to roll out its first electric vehicle by 2025 more credible. The deal sent Aston shares up over 9% in early Monday trading. RECENTLY, while pondering how men could dress sexily—a rarely discussed topic—in 2023, we took a moment to ask ourselves which looks wannabe charmers should definitely avoid. Suggestions flew back and forth in a flurry: “Terry-cloth one-piece rompers?” ventured one editor, only to be reminded that Sean Connery as James Bond managed to make a similar look appear quite hot. As someone pointed out, this, too, can smolder—see Louis Vuitton’s deeply cool, pixelated take on the pattern for Spring 2024. “Floor-length leather coats a la ‘The Matrix’?” Now we were getting somewhere. “Gladiator sandals?” Well, yes, but not exactly a go-to look for middle-management types, or frankly anyone.

BERLIN, May 22 (Reuters) - Calling wannabe James Bonds. Intelligence services are finding it harder to recruit staff since the pandemic as prospects want to work from home and would rather not part with their personal cell phones, the head of Germany's foreign intelligence service BND said on Monday. For “Bad Sisters’” smarmy, abusive antagonist John Paul, Gold cast Claes Bang. For Gold and her team – rising to six people, depending on projects – it’s a lot of logistics and audition tapes. Gold cast Taylor-Johnson in his breakout role as John Lennon in “Nowhere Boy” (2009) at age 18-20, she guesses, but had been auditioning him since about the age of nine.
Aston Martin stock soars after $295 million Geely investment

May 18 (Reuters) - Aston Martin's (AML.L) stock popped nearly 22% on Thursday, after the luxury carmaker announced a 234 million pound investment by China's Geely (0715.HK), that will see the automotive firm become its third-largest shareholder. Geely will acquire about 42 million ordinary shares from Chairman Lawrence Stroll's Yew Tree, which is currently the Aston Martin's largest stakeholder, at 335 pence apiece and subscribe for another 28 million shares at the same price. Aston Martin shares, which closed at 231.2 pence on Wednesday, were trading up to 279.4 pence at 0727 GMT. "Our decision to increase our shareholding in Aston Martin reflects our confidence in the company's growth prospects, its technologies and its management team," said Geely Chairman Eric Li. The investment gives Geely a 17% stake in the company and entitles it to one board seat, behind number two shareholder Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Prince William honored his father with a few words during Sunday night's concert - the first ever to be staged at Windsor Castle, home to monarchs for almost 1,000 years. Royals dance the night awaySeveral members of the royal family got their groove on throughout the concert. Chris Jackson/Getty ImagesMesmerizing drone displayA fabulous drone display lit up the sky over the coronation concert, earning audible gasps from the crowd below. Crowds watch illuminated drones creating a light display above Windsor Castle. But when Miss Piggy, dressed in a cerise pink evening dress and glittering necklace, recognized “Downton Abbey” star Bonneville she had other things in mind, thinking he was a real lord.
Is there any pageant of state more chockablock with symbolism than a royal coronation? Almost every detail, from the crown itself to the “bracelets of sincerity and wisdom” presented to the new monarch, is redolent of meaning. So it really shouldn’t be a surprise that the clothes of the ceremony’s stars, as well as many of the guests, were equally considered, down to the tiniest detail. Indeed, a scan through the looks on Saturday was, on one level, like a super fancy fashion Easter egg hunt. It started with the coronation gown worn by Queen Camilla: a white silk dress by Bruce Oldfield, a British designer who has been a favorite dressmaker of not only the new queen, but was also often worn by Princess Diana (he made her silver lame dress for the 1985 premiere of the James Bond film “A View to a Kill”) and thus a sort of diplomatic family bridge.
Judith Miller, the author of popular antiques price guides and a member of the team of appraisers who determined what was trash and what was treasure on “Antiques Roadshow,” the beloved long-running BBC program that inspired the American series of the same name, died on April 8 in North London. Once, Mr. Wainwright recalled, at the reception for his mother’s funeral, a woman approached Ms. Miller and pulled a plate out from under her coat, wondering what it might be worth. Ms. Miller’s books, updated regularly, are encyclopedic in their range and eclectic in their categories. They describe thousands of objects — the current antiques edition lists more than 8,000 — each illustrated by a sumptuous color photograph. There were the usual suspects, like Royal Doulton Art Deco teacups and saucers, Meissen pottery, Murano glass and pages of Scandinavian ceramics.
If Charles III wants the pomp and ceremony of a coronation, he should instead use a negligible portion of the vast sums of money he has accrued over the years thanks to his birth-given status as a royal. Spain’s last formal coronation was all the way back in 1555, while Belgium’s monarchy doesn’t even have a crown with which to conduct a coronation. It also found that a plurality of 45% believe Charles is “out of touch” with the experiences of the public. However, these tourist dollars might well continue whether or not the royal family does. Maybe if a tighter budget is applied to the British royal family, Charles rather than taxpayers will be paying the next time he opts to board a £32,000 ($40,200) charter flight to attend a James Bond premiere.

REUTERS/Phil NobleMay 3 (Reuters) - British luxury carmaker Aston Martin Lagonda (AML.L) on Wednesday reported a narrower quarterly pretax loss and maintained its 2023 outlook, benefiting from the strong sales of its sport utility vehicle DBX and higher selling prices. Free cash outflow in the quarter stood at 118 million pounds, compared with 25 million pounds of outflow a year ago as it spent on the development of new sports cars and its electrification programme. Aston Martin said it expects 2023 to be the "peak year" of capital spend. Loss before tax for the three months to March 31 was 74.2 million pounds ($92.7 million), compared with 111.6 million pounds a year earlier.

LONDON, April 28 (Reuters) - (Please note obscene language in penultimate three paragraphs)Hollywood actress Eva Green on Friday won a legal fight with financiers whom she had sued in London's High Court for her fee for a failed film in which she was to star. Judge Michael Green said in a written ruling that Eva Green was entitled to payment of the $1 million fee. Green, 42, appeared in court in January to say she had become concerned the film's production team had been cutting corners, citing how her stunt training had been reduced from four weeks to five days. White Lantern's lawyers said Green, also an executive producer on the project, had made unreasonable demands about crew, locations and equipment. "I fought tooth and nail to defend the beautiful film that I loved and had signed on for," Green said in a statement.
