"Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor's advice," according to a statement from Springsteen and his E Street Band. Peptic ulcer disease is the wearing away of the stomach lining, which can be asymptomatic or cause debilitating pain. Those suffering from peptic ulcer disease are usually told to cut back on their use of pain medication and limit alcohol consumption.
