REUTERS/Francis Mascarenhas Acquire Licensing RightsNEW DELHI, Nov 4 (Reuters) - India's air safety watchdog proposes reduced night work hours and more rest for pilots, among measures to address rising complaints of pilot fatigue, according to draft regulations seen by Reuters on Saturday. The proposal from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation come more than two months after it decided to conduct a review of pilot fatigue data collected during spot checks and surveillance of airlines. The review was launched after an IndiGo (INGL.NS) pilot collapsed and died in August before his flight. Changes would include cutting the maximum flight duty period to 10 hours from 13 hours for pilots operating at night, and increasing the minimum weekly rest period to 48 hours from 36 hours. IndiGo, India's biggest airline, has said the pilot who died had a 27-hour break before duty and was in good health.

Air India declined to comment and the two chief executives did not respond to requests for comment. The dispute comes at the time of a hiring spree by Air India, with its arm, Air India Express, seeking to more than triple its fleet to 170 over five years. Akasa told the court it cancelled 600 flights in August and would be forced to cancel up to 700 more in September if the resignations continue, the person added. Akasa has dragged the pilots, many of whom have joined rival Air India Express, to court and initiated legal proceedings against the aviation regulator to enforce the notice period. The notice period ranges between 6-12 months, depending on the pilot's rank, according to the aviation regulator. IndiGo (INGL.NS) is in talks to buy Boeing's 787 family of twin-aisle aircraft, which has been pitted against Airbus A330neo jets, said the sources who are familiar with the matter. Reuters first reported in March that IndiGo was in talks with Airbus and Boeing for the wide-body jets. So far, IndiGo has been an exclusive buyer of Airbus narrow-body jets and a deal for wide-body planes would be a departure from that strategy. Earlier this year it began international operations with a Boeing 777, its first twin aisle aircraft taken from partner Turkish Airlines, which provides the pilots.

REUTERS/Adnan Abidi/File PhotoNEW DELHI/BENGALURU, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Tata Group on Thursday unveiled a new logo, branding and plane livery for Air India as part of a multi-million dollar transformation of the former state-run carrier. The airline's new logo includes a design with golden, red and purple colours, and will replace the old logo of a red swan with orange spokes. Since taking control in 2022, Tata has spent millions of dollars to update Air India's old planes, while also placing an order for hundreds of new jets. "The vision we have for the airline is also in the backdrop of a new resurgent India where the aspirations of everyone are limitless," Air India chairperson N. Chandrasekaran said. Over the past year, Air India has expanded its network and flights to several new domestic and international destinations, but it still faces challenges in operating a seamless and timely schedule of flights.

My wife said to me the other day that you know a song is great if singing it makes you feel you can actually sing. There is a chemical reaction that happens; the DNA of the song fuses with your chromosomes and becomes something new. Or you can meet them with a sense of possibility, grounded in reality, loosely tethered to something like hope. When we are young, we feel that way because we don’t know any better. Eventually you get to a place where you know all the ways it can go wrong and feel open anyway.

Twenty years ago, Paris-based fashion designer François Yameogo returned to his native Burkina Faso to build a facility specialising in making Faso Danfani, the country's traditional fabric, for use in his signature indigo sport coats. July 7 (Reuters) - U.S. private equity firm 777 Partners has said it is in talks with Boeing Co (BA.N) and Franco-Italian turboprop maker ATR over a new jet order, as it looks to enter more markets amid a boom in air travel.
