That is almost entirely because Americans are by and large opposed to living anywhere near nuclear waste, and suspicious of governments’ or utilities’ attempts to assuage nuclear fears. The byproduct of nuclear energy is still associated with atomic bombs or nuclear meltdowns. On the threshold of America’s nuclear energy renaissance, federal officials are pleading with communities to say yes to storing spent fuel. No state has yet raised its hand to store the country’s nuclear energy waste, despite the lucrative deals it could foment.

Someone at the National Turkey Federation once had an idea: Let’s send a live turkey to Harry Truman for a presidential holiday feast! Previously, some individual turkey producers had sent their products to the president to promote them, but the greater resources of the National Turkey Federation meant that the story could be promoted more effectively. The turkey sent to President Truman was killed and eaten, as were turkeys subsequently sent to President Dwight Eisenhower. It may be a coincidence that the celebrity look-alike competition returned to prominence just as American citizens were voting in what some called “the most significant presidential election in our lifetimes.” But once it happened, the appeal was obvious. Close family of Payne, 31, and his former One Direction band members are among those expected to attend the funeral, PA Media reported. The British singer died on October 16 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system, according to the country’s public prosecutor’s office, which launched an investigation. Payne soared to global fame as part of One Direction, the group that was created on the British talen show “The X Factor” in 2010.

A third of Clinton supporters in a mid-November 2016 ABC News/Washington Post poll said that Trump’s win was not legitimate. President-elect Donald Trump is now receiving intelligence briefings after having declined them during his campaign, according to a source with knowledge of the matter and a former U.S. official. “ODNI is acting consistent with the tradition, in place since 1952, of providing intelligence briefings to the President-elect,” an ODNI spokesperson said. The office would not comment specifically on whether Trump was actually accepting the offer of the briefings. A Trump transition team representative was not able to confirm that Trump had begun receiving the briefings. Before the election, Trump had said he did not want to get the intelligence briefings to avoid any chance he would be accused of leaking information.
