Hyams, who works in social media and marketing, illustrates one of the traits of Gen Z that may be surprising. Kevin McCrain, CEO of Brookfield Properties' retail business, said Gen Z craves unique experiences that they can share in person and through social media. One of the most surprising findings of her Gen Z research was a simple one: Despite growing up in a world where everything from schoolwork to dating takes place on the internet, almost every Gen Z person she surveyed or interviewed said they preferred to communicate in person. That compares with only 30% at the company's Hollister brand, which tends to attract Gen Z shoppers. Compared with older generations, Gen Z shoppers also have high expectations of how brands connect their online and offline businesses.

In the latest show of support for Ukraine, the Biden administration plans to announce an expected $500 million aid package in coming days that will pull equipment out of the US military’s stocks. And the senior administration official told CNN that the administration is pouring resources into getting previously announced weapons for Ukraine into Kyiv’s hands before Biden leaves office. “DoD is undertaking a historic effort to move massive quantities of weapons into Ukraine in the next five weeks,” the senior administration official said. He said in the interview that he “vehemently” disagreed with the decision by the Biden administration to allow Ukraine to strike inside Russia with US-provided weapons. But still, the biggest challenge facing Ukraine is not its weapons stocks, the senior administration official said — it’s manpower.

Here are 5 cities where the highest number of Gen Z renters are rent-burdened:While financial experts recommend limiting housing expenses to no more than 30% of income , this can be challenging in a number of cities where younger renters shoulder the heaviest load. Housing expenses in the analysis were not not limited to rent, Zillow Economist Kenny Lee tells CNBC Make It. In fact, nearly 6 out of 10 Gen Z renters (18- to 25-year-olds) are "rent-burdened," according to a recent Zillow analysis of U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey data. This is common in this economy, says Lee, since many of the best-paying jobs for Gen Z are located in cities where the rent is most burdensome. Find a roommate"A lot of renters have been relying on finding roommates to split the cost of housing," says Lee.

We adopted two boys at the age of 3 and 2, and despite knowing more, it was still hard. My husband had never been married or had children, so we adopted two little boys. Most were childless or had older kids long past the "Mickey Mouse Club House" and day care struggles season of life. When my kids were little, things like bending over to give them baths made me realize that although I might feel young, my back said otherwise. However, my decision to have more kids a little later in life, while maybe unconventional, was the best decision.

The swift collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian regime represents a devastating defeat for Iran, the latest in a string of setbacks that have punctured long held assumptions in the West about Tehran’s military prowess. As the rebels pressed ahead, there was no concerted effort to stop the advance with Russian warplanes or Iranian-backed proxy forces. “Assad was effectively abandoned because his only friends ... Iran, Hezbollah and Russia, no longer had the capacity to help,” the official added. The United States and other governments had feared an Israeli attack on Iran would produce an overwhelming response against Israel by Iran’s proxies. Those officers had decades of experience in Syria and a network of contacts among the militants in Iran’s proxy network, including Iraqis, Afghans, Pakistanis, Yemenis and others.

Merriam-Webster’s word of the year is one that the dictionary suggests unifies both sides of the aisle. The word was frequently used by the media this year, Merriam-Webster noted, and was repeated on networks like MSNBC and Fox News — particularly when describing politics and the presidential election. Several other terms associated with politics — including “democracy” — also made the dictionary’s words of the year list. But this year, Merriam-Webster said the word saw a “rise in lookups” due to “multiple reasons relating to the U.S. election,” including the health of both President Joe Biden and Trump. Meanwhile, Collins Dictionary named “Brat” word of the year, after the Charli XCX album became part of the cultural zeitgeist over the summer.
