A recent Ally Financial ad buy with Disney 's ESPN focused on women's sports may be the biggest deal yet — in importance as much as the dollars attached. The one-year, multimillion-dollar deal requires 90% of its investment to be put to women's sports, through expanding game highlights, branded content and features across ESPN. Chick-fil-A is making its cauliflower sandwich the same way as its original chicken sandwich. Chick-fil-A will test its first plant-based entree: a cauliflower sandwich. The new sandwich closely resembles its famous chicken sandwich, but uses breaded and pressure-cooked cauliflower in place of meat. Chick-fil-A said it's been working on a plant-based sandwich for nearly four years, right around when chains like Dunkin' and Restaurant Brands International's Burger King were putting Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods substitutes on their menus. Buffalo Wild Wings and countless bars serve fried cauliflower smothered in buffalo sauce as an alternative to chicken wings.
Plant-based meat sales growth has flattened over the last several months. But, Chick-fil-A is debuting a cauliflower sandwich in three US markets next week. Next week, the Atlanta-based fried chicken chain plans to introduce its first plant-based meal, the Chick-fil-A Cauliflower Sandwich. Chick-fil-A's vegetable sandwich test also comes as demand for plant-based meats has slowed, prompting layoffs at Impossible Foods. "We explored every corner of the plant-based space in search of the perfect centerpiece for our plant-forward entrée," Stuart Tracy, culinary developer of the cauliflower sandwich, said in a statement.
A North Carolina couple are accused of performing an amateur exorcism on their 4-year-old son, who later died. Skyler died Jan. 9 "from injuries related to the abuse sustained by his parents," authorities said. The sheriff's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday. They are alleged to have restrained and isolated the child and performed an exorcism, the station reported. They had other children in their custody who are now in the care of the Department of Social Services, the sheriff's office said.

At least nine are dead and more deaths are expected after more than a dozen tornadoes tore through the Southeastern U.S. on Thursday, according to officials. Seven of the deaths were reported in Autauga County, Alabama, northwest of Montgomery, according to county Emergency Management Agency Director Ernie Baggett. Six of the deaths were reported the day the tornadoes made landfall in the state, and one was reported on Friday. The second fatality in Georgia was a Department of Transportation employee who was responding to storm damage, Governor Brian Kemp said in a news conference Friday. Governor Burt Jones took a helicopter tour of the damage Friday to also assess the damage resulting from tornadoes in the state.
He promises not to let that happen again, insisting he will “actively look for quality candidates” to promote in the 2024 primaries. “In the other states, Trump’s support was so significant — we could have spent a lot of money, maybe trying to come up with a different candidate and maybe not succeeding,” he said. And yet, it's Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. — not McConnell — who's radiating confidence about winning the majority in 2024. He also spent large parts of 2022 feuding over strategy with Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, the GOP Senate campaign chief. Then Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and then President Donald Trump at the U.S. Capitol, on Oct. 24, 2017.
Jervais, who started with worse credit than Natia, bumped his score up from 524 to the low- to mid-600s, he said. Plus, Natia started working in marketing in 2005 and went from an hourly wage plus tips to earning a salary. They purchased them all within 45 days of each other in late 2021 and immediately listed them on the short-term rental market.
The 26% of Georgians who ranked abortion as their top issue backed Warnock by a margin of 77% to 21%, NBC News exit polls showed. Herschel Walker wants a total ban on abortion nationwide,” says a TV ad by the Democratic group Georgia Honor, playing footage of Walker calling for a “no-exception” ban. NBC News exit polls showed 60% of voters believe abortion should be legal, while 37% said it should be illegal. And no-exceptions rhetoric could be out of step with voters in a divided state like Georgia. Sen. Gary Peters, the Michigan Democrat who chairs the party’s Senate campaign arm, said abortion will remain a “permanent” feature of American elections until Republicans back down.
Three former Georgia sheriff's deputies were arrested and charged for allegedly beating a Black inmate in a videotaped September attack that "shocked the conscience," authorities said Tuesday. They had already been fired by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office prior to their arrests. The arrests come a week after attorneys for inmate Jarrett Hobbs released several videos showing deputies allegedly beating him on Sept. 3 at the Camden County Jail in Woodbine. The videos showed the deputies appearing to punch Hobbs, drag him from his cell, slam him against a wall, and kick him repeatedly. The incident led to the sheriff's office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation launching separate investigations.
Nearly 18% of pending home sales nationwide were canceled in October, the most since 2013. High inflation and mortgage rates have kept buyers at bay, even as the market begins to cool. Developers are turning to build-to-rent buyers to offload new supply as demand wanes. Rising home prices have been a chief scourge for homebuyers and homebuilders alike throughout the pandemic. "Professional rental companies in some ways bring more efficiency and they might help solve affordability problems because of very high mortgage rates right now," Tomasz Piskorski, a professor of real estate at Columbia Business School, told Insider in November.
The man who killed his estranged wife, a Dallas medical examiner, inside her office before turning the gun on himself, was identified as a former college basketball player, authorities said Friday. James "Jed" Frost, who played at the University of Missouri in the early 1990s, fatally shot his wife, Dr. Beth Ellen Frost, on Tuesday afternoon inside her office at the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office, officials said. The local unemployment rate is already nearly a percentage point above the U.S. average of 3.5%. "It's very premature in my view to think about or be talking about pausing our rate hikes. The target federal funds rate is now in a range of between 3.75% and 4%, the highest since early 2008. In the 1970s and 1980s, Fed Chair Paul Volcker's attack on inflation sparked a recession that pushed the unemployment rate above 10%, then a post-World War II high. "I do worry about how rates affect the economy," Bostic said at the forum.

So in 2018, they used a home equity line of credit to buy their first rental property in cash. While the couple could've saved for a down payment for their rental property, it would've taken months, if not a few years. In choosing the location for their rental property, they looked for a turnkey home that was pretty much move-in ready for tenants. Another perk of having a solid team to take care of their rental properties is the couple rarely needs to travel for in-person visits. All in all, Marques and Shyra are happy they made the decision to purchase their first rental property with a HELOC.
GREENSBORO, N.C.—In one of the closest Senate contests in the country, both political parties have emphasized energizing their bases more than trying to persuade a shrinking pool of undecided voters ahead of the midterm elections. The race between Democrat Cheri Beasley, a former chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, and Rep. Ted Budd , a Republican backed by former President Donald Trump, has been close for months, as many elections in North Carolina have been in recent years. Mr. Budd holds a roughly 2.6 percentage-point edge, according to polling aggregator FiveThirtyEight.
