Third-party food delivery is becoming the norm for American consumers, as delivery apps like Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats take hold in day-to-day dining. It's also presenting customers and restaurants with an increasingly complicated equation of service fees, delivery costs and worker tips. San Francisco resident Zainab Batool, who said she orders delivery from either Uber Eats or DoorDash weekly, called the added fees "insane." The share of consumers choosing third-party delivery services over direct restaurant delivery is rising, up from 15% in 2020 to 21% in 2024, according to Technomic's 2024 Delivery & Takeout Consumer Trend Report. But using their delivery services instead of paying for in-house delivery is worth it for a business on the smaller side, he said.

Toy company Hasbro beat Wall Street expectations for the second-quarter on Thursday, thanks in part to growth in its digital gaming segment. Though Hasbro's revenue declined 18% overall for the quarter, its Wizards of the Coast and digital gaming segment saw 20% revenue growth. Hasbro attributed the revenue increase for Wizards of the Coast and digital gaming to the launch of MAGIC's card game, Modern Horizons 3, and the continued impact of licensed and digital gaming, with Monopoly Go! CEO Chris Cocks said during the company's earnings call that it continues to invest in its digital gaming portfolio, highlighting the recent appointment of John Hight as president of Wizards of the Coast and digital gaming. The company estimates a total adjusted EBITDA for the full year of between $975 million and $1.025 billion.

That improvement in the bioprocessing end market is super important because it has been a huge overhang for Danaher shares, and the life sciences space in general. We were concerned about the bioprocessing market after rival Sartorius cut its guidance last week. The management team has effectively navigated the bioprocessing slowdown better than others and kept expectations managed — a big reason we've stuck by the stock during a difficult few quarters. Based on these strong results and the improving bioprocessing market, we are raising our price target to $295 from $280 and reiterating our 1 rating. All three operating segments are expected to post sales decline rates in the low single digits.

Delta Airlines passengers line up for agent assistance at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on July 22, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Office of Aviation Consumer Protection is investigating Delta Air Lines over chaos sparked by last week's global IT outage, according to a statement. The DOT cited widespread flight disruptions and customer service failures in which Delta did not uphold commitments to its passengers, it said. On Tuesday, 12% of Delta flights were canceled and 13% were delayed as of mid-morning, according to FlightAware, with some passengers still stranded in airports even days after the outage. The DOT penalized the airline $140 million, a sum 30 times larger than any previous consumer protection violations penalty from the department.

My name is Lee Isaac Chung and I am the director of “Twisters.” So this is a scene that happens about halfway through the film. Other interesting actors in this sequence, we have James Paxton, who is actually the son of Bill Paxton. So any time we’re filming inside of this swimming pool, there were people outside, our crew, who were destroying the set. The swimming pool had actually never been there. We had found this motel in which there were three separate structures within the motel.

Other interesting actors in this sequence, we have James Paxton, who is actually the son of Bill Paxton. Really, the intent of doing this was to create that feeling, that subjective feeling of what it’s like to experience a tornado in real time. "Their performances at an Olympic Games, in our own World Championships, provide world athletics with broadcast revenue from the International Olympic Committee and at a world championship level," he continued. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe defended his decision to pay prize money to track and field gold medalists for the first time at the Paris Olympics this summer, suggesting that the initiative could be extended to future games. The first phase focused on allocating funds to World Athletics' national governing bodies to support athletes and pay for projects. Coe, who is serving his third term as World Athletics president, deflected rumors that he may be in line to succeed Thomas Bach as IOC president.

CNN —The government of China now possesses something that no other humans have ever encountered — rocks and soil from the far side of the moon. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson told CNN he’s “pleased to hear CNSA intends to share” the materials collected by the Chang’e-6 lunar probe last month. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, shown here during a pre-launch news conference on Boeing's first crewed spacecraft, the Boeing Starliner, on May 3, said he's "pleased" China intends to share the lunar far side samples. China opened those samples to international scientists for the first time last August, and Nelson has given NASA-funded researchers the green light to apply for access.
