REUTERS/Adnan Abidi/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW DELHI, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) Capital has told an Indian court it detected corrosion of some parts and "a greenish deposit" on a plane leased to bankrupt airline Go First, after another lessor complained about "robbed" parts. The lessors currently are only allowed an occasional inspection of the grounded Go First planes, which DAE and others claim are not being properly maintained. DAE court documents show it was worried about a lack of covers on cabin and cockpit seats "which would eventually lead to fungus formation", according to an internal e-mail contained in the filing. Indian media outlet Mint reported on Thursday that another lessor, BOC Aviation, also told the Delhi court about algae formation as the planes were not covered. Go First lessor SMBC Aviation Capital Aviation in May told an Indian court that Indian bankruptcy law, which blocks plane repossession, will jolt the market and spark a confidence crisis.

Three decades ago, as a University of North Carolina student, he covered a deadly shooting for the school newspaper. Last month, as a journalism professor at the same school, Ryan Thornburg kept his students safe during a lockdown — after another shooting. Thornburg, the former student journalist, didn’t even think to call his parents in California about the 1995 shooting until he saw a television news van near the scene. A few days later, it was their turn to experience a campus shooting. Students who grew up in the age of school shootings are arriving on campus extra jumpy, he said.

The Direxion Daily NVDA Bull 1.5x Shares ETF (NVDU.O) seeks to deliver 1.5 times the price return of daily moves in Nvidia’s shares, which have more than tripled year-to-date. Meanwhile, the Direxion Daily NVDD Bear 1x Shares ETF allows bearish investors to profit when Nvidia’s shares decline. Single-stock ETFs made their debut in 2022, but only a handful of products have since been introduced by five firms, including Direxion. Because of their increased exposure, investors’ losses in leveraged exchange traded products can be staggering, analysts said. Only four leveraged single-stock ETFs currently have more than $50 million, according to Morningstar.

JAKARTA, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Indonesia is planning to ban goods transactions on social media under new trade regulations, the deputy trade minister told a parliamentary hearing on Tuesday. Ministers have repeatedly said that e-commerce sellers using predatory pricing on social media platforms were threatening offline markets in Southeast Asia's biggest economy. Current trade regulations do not specifically cover direct transactions on social media. "Social media and social commerce cannot be combined," Jerry Sambuaga, deputy minister of trade, told the parliament, using the example of sellers using "live" features on the short video platform TikTok to sell goods. "Revisions to the trade regulations that are currently under way will firmly and explicitly ban this," Sambuaga said.

A multiyear investigation into the safety of Tesla's driver assistance systems by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, is drawing to a close. Tesla cars cannot function as robotaxis like those operated by General Motors -owned Cruise or Alphabet 's Waymo. Tesla CEO Elon Musk — who also owns and runs the social network X (formerly Twitter) — often implies Tesla cars are autonomous. But it's not clear that this is a strong enough system to ensure safe use of Tesla's driver assistance features. In 23 of these incidents, the agency report says, Tesla's driver assistance features were in use within 30 seconds of the collision.

JPMorgan's human trafficking experts urged the bank to cut ties with Jeffrey Epstein: court docs. JPMorgan Chase's in-house human trafficking experts urged the company to sever ties with "that scum Epstein" — but bank executives rejected their request, according to a new court filing. They cited news stories that connected Jeffrey Epstein to human trafficking, according to the court document, which was filed in Manhattan court on Monday. The head of JPMorgan's human trafficking initiative also believed the company "should exit Jeffrey Epstein as a client," according to the filing. "We would never have continued to do business with him if we believed he was engaged in an ongoing sex trafficking operation."

PARIS, July 25 (Reuters) - France's antitrust watchdog on Tuesday said it had issued a statement of objection against Apple (AAPL.O), citing concerns the U.S. technology company could have used "discriminatory and non-transparent conditions" for using user data for advertising purposes on iPhones. The statement triggers a proper antitrust procedure during which the company will be able to express its point of view, the watchdog said. The mechanism "gives users more control by requiring all apps to ask permission before tracking them," Apple said in an e-mailed statement, adding that it will "continue to engage constructively" with the French antitrust regulator. The four associations - IAB France, MMAF, SRI and UDECAM - said the changes brought by Apple did not meet European Union privacy rules, which Apple denies. Global commodities have seen a more than 20% slump compared to the same period last year, as reflected by the S&P GSCI Commodities index. Prices of commodities like crude oil and iron ore have been sliding this year, underlining a continuing economic rout across the globe and possible recession risks, market watchers told CNBC. Global commodities have seen a more than 25% slump over the last 12 months as reflected by the S&P GSCI Commodities index — a benchmark measuring the wider performance of various commodity markets. But the overall slide for the index is likely pointing to a global economic slowdown and a recession, analysts say, as China's Covid-19 rebound loses momentum. "It is my belief that this will flow through to a broader decline in economic activity, especially in the West," I'Anson added.

WASHINGTON, July 5 (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's main fundraising committee raised more than $35 million during the April-June period, a campaign official said, nearly twice what the group gathered in the prior three months. The acceleration in fundraising could be a sign that Trump's 2024 campaign coffers are benefiting from the former president's legal problems. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted the day after Trump's federal indictment, a vast majority of Republicans believe those charges are politically motivated. The Trump campaign official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not provide further details on the second quarter fundraising, which was carried out by Trump's Save America Joint Fundraising Committee. The joint committee's most recent fundraising appeals disclose that 90% of the money it raises go to Trump's campaign, while the other 10% go to a separate group that helps fund Trump's legal expenses.
