Republican analysts blamed Trump for the GOP's disappointing midterm results. The former president had endorsed hundreds of candidates in the midterm elections as he sought to cement his control over the party. In a CNN interview, former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin blamed the failures on the poor quality of the candidates Trump championed. Liam Donovan, a former aide to the National Republican Senatorial Committee, also laid the blame at the feet of the former president. He is considered Trump's leading rival for the 2024 GOP nomination, and Trump had attacked him in interviews on the eve of the midterms.

And with the ongoing supply chain crunch and inflation continuing to rise, military industry watchers question whether the U.S. defense sector can keep up. The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday confirmed a nationwide shortage of the attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder medication Adderall, more than two months after some pharmacies reported difficulties filling prescriptions. The shortage affects the immediate-release form of Adderall, a stimulant that helps manage ADHD symptoms. Dougherty added that Teva expects “intermittent delays through end of year.”The supply from the other Adderall manufacturers isn’t enough to meet the need, the FDA said. The shortage has hit pharmacies differentlySome pharmacies have been having trouble filling Adderall prescriptions since the summer. In May, Walmart and CVS announced they would stop filling prescriptions for controlled substances from telehealth startups such as Cerebral and Done Health, which prescribe stimulants and gained footing during the pandemic.

The growth of e-commerce has opened new private equity opportunities, a top investor said. The $941 billion private equity firm took a majority stake in Supergoop last December. The investment valued Supergoop, which makes sunscreen and sun protection-focused makeup, at some $600 million to $700 million at the time, Bloomberg News reported. "What is at work here is the colossal, growing nature of private equity everywhere," said Carter Dougherty, communications director for the progressive advocacy coalition Americans for Financial Reform. Some $78 billion of that is in private equity, with the rest across real estate, hedge fund solutions, and credit and insurance, according to filings.
