The FBI said Monday afternoon that it is investigating what the Trump campaign has characterized as a successful effort to hack into its campaign and steal private documents. A Trump campaign spokesperson said Saturday that it had been hacked in June. The claim from the Trump campaign adds to what had already been a deeply antagonistic relationship between Iran and the former president. WASHINGTON — U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan on Friday approved a request from special counsel Jack Smith to allow for more time to propose the next steps in the government's election interference case against former President Donald Trump. The special counsel's office said in its filing Thursday that prosecutors are still assessing the "new precedent set forth" in the Trump immunity decision by the Supreme Court. Smith asked Chutkan to give them and Trump's lawyers until Aug. 30 to submit the joint status report and to schedule the status conference after that. The appeals process made certain that the trial would not happen before Election Day on Nov. 5. Last weekend Chutkan denied an older motion from Trump to dismiss the election interference indictment, filed before the Supreme Court took up the case.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved ARS Pharmaceuticals’ nasal spray as the first needle-free emergency treatment for potentially fatal allergic reactions, the agency said on Friday. Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction that typically involves multiple parts of the body and is considered a medical emergency. Neffy, a single-dose nasal spray administered into one nostril, was approved for use in adult and pediatric patients who weigh at least 66 pounds. Neffy’s approval is based on four studies in 175 healthy adults without anaphylaxis that measured the epinephrine concentrations in the blood following administration of Neffy or approved epinephrine injection products. Last year, the FDA declined to approve the spray and requested additional testing, in a decision that went against the recommendation from its independent experts.

A growing number of Americans who need cash before their next payday are tapping online paycheck advances. But the fees that often come with the advances are drawing scrutiny from a federal consumer watchdog. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau proposed a rule in July that would treat many digital pay-advance offerings as loans. The rule “will help workers know what they are getting with these products,” the bureau’s director, Rohit Chopra, said in prepared remarks.
