To show his appreciation for the Cubs faithful, left fielder Ian Happ chucked a ball wrapped in $100 bills to the left stands on Sunday. The gesture marked the team’s final game of the season, in which the Cincinnati Reds claimed a 3-0 shutout win over Chicago. Dominant starts from Caleb Kilian and Hunter Greene on the mound eventually led to extra innings being required at Wrigley Field with the score tied at 0-0. That's the lowest turnover rate the market has seen in at least three decades, the firm estimated. Elevated mortgage rates and home prices have been keeping some buyers on the sidelines. That's the lowest turnover rate for any first-eight-month period in at least 30 years, the firm said, comparing the current housing environment to the early- to mid-90s. In that era, home sales were at similar levels, though the total supply of homes was larger, which drove a higher turnover rate, the report added. Homes sales, meanwhile, could notch 4.3 million by the end of the year, a 5% boost from last year's levels, it added.

The second moon that Earth has captured in its orbit this month is an asteroid called 2024 PT5. Mini-moons like this could be ideal targets for asteroid mining to send humans deeper into space. Space mining could be huge, since some asteroids are worth more than our entire global economy. Some startups are trying to figure out how to start mining space rocks, and do it in a cost-effective way. "Either if you are thinking about collecting mineral samples for research or starting a space mining venture, mini-moons are your best bet to get your business off the ground," he said.

The asteroid, dubbed 2024 PT5, is 33 feet long — roughly equivalent to a standard school bus. The asteroid is expected to enter Earth’s orbit Sunday and lurk there until Nov. 25, just over 56 days, Marcos said. Astronomers in Arizona spotted a different visiting mini-moon — a tiny asteroid named 2020 CD3 — in Earth’s orbit in February 2020. “A short mini-moon episode may last hours, days, weeks or a few months, and the affected object does not complete one revolution around Earth,” he said in an email. An early warning system for asteroids known as ATLAS (short for Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System) discovered 2024 PT5 in early August.

New York City’s former Covid czar has admitted to participating in what he called “private gatherings” attended by multiple people while the rest of the city was on lockdown and large get-togethers were prohibited during the pandemic. “I served in City Hall between April 2020 — May 2021,” Varma said in a statement issued by his spokesman, Chris Vlasto. He became a national figure when Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving was barred from playing basketball in New York City because he refused to get vaccinated. At the time, New York state had increased the limit on outdoor social gatherings from 200 to 500 people. In the apparently heavily edited video, Varma appeared to recognize the hypocrisy of telling New Yorkers to isolate while he was partying with large groups of people.

But as a mini-moon, Asteroid 2024 PT5 isn’t in any danger of colliding with Earth now or over the next few decades, de la Fuente Marcos said. Asteroid 2020 CD3 is considered a long-capture mini-moon, while the newly detected Asteroid 2024 PT5 is a short-capture one. Short mini-moon events can occur several times per decade, but long mini-moon events are rare, and only occur every 10 or 20 years, de la Fuente Marcos said. “In order to become a mini-moon, an incoming body has to approach Earth slowly at close range,” de la Fuente Marcos said. After 56.6 days, the sun’s gravitational pull will bring Asteroid 2024 PT5 back into its normal orbit.

They will still be cheap marketplaces but they won't have quite the competitive edge on price that they do now," Saunders told CNBC in an email. Known as the de minimis loophole, the trade provision allows packages with a value of less than $800 to enter the United States with relatively little scrutiny. Over the past decade, the number of de minimis shipments has exploded, from roughly 140 million to more than a billion, according to a White House estimate.
