CNN —Aria Liu, 17, regularly posts shopping haul videos to her YouTube channel, which has 300,000 subscribers. “I don’t know what it is, but when I’m shopping online, money doesn’t feel real.”Liu’s not alone. Shopping hauls have existed for years, if not decades. Aria Liu says that the shopping haul videos she posts on her YouTube channel, “urmomsushi,” are the ones that garner the most views. There’s also a growing body of research that is questioning whether social media can be dangerous, especially for younger users.

The Italian fashion house's alcohol-free fragrance mist for dogs, which costs £83 ($105) on its U.K. website, is inspired by Fefé, the pet dog of brand-owner Domenico Dolce. However, the fragrance has drawn some concern from animal welfare organizations and experts who warn that perfumes can interfere with a dog's sense of smell. Oils such as ylang ylang which is included in Fefé, can also have a positive effect, he said. RSPCA's Potter also noted that some "lightly-scented products," which do not use aversive scents or interfere with a dog's sense of smell, can have a calming effect.

PFAS helps pesticides last longerThe study authors submitted Freedom of Information requests to various state and federal government agencies in the US, including the EPA. The analysis found eight EPA-approved inert ingredients were PFAS, including the nonstick chemical Teflon. In February, the EPA proposed the removal of Teflon in pesticide products.

It found that people generally have a strong preference for a brick-and-mortar experience when buying luxury items. Online luxury sales picked up during the pandemic but have since come back down to earth. The overarching theme is that many consumers haven't warmed up to shopping luxury — namely, ultra-luxe items and brands — online. AdvertisementWe try to treat luxury with the same e-commerce experience we use for paper towels, and that just doesn't work. For the most part, luxury brands prefer that customers would rather shop in-store.

Practical purchases dominated this year's Amazon Prime Day in the US, the 48 hours of mega-discounts that generate billions in sales. Adobe Analytics forecasted before the mega-sale that this year's Prime Day would hit a record $14 billion in sales, breaking 2023's record by 10.5%. And it's too early to know what Amazon shoppers bought around the world: Some countries' Prime Day sales stretch for nearly a week, while India's Prime Day happens later this summer. CNN —Sealed bottles of tattoo and permanent makeup ink, including some marked as sterile, contained millions of potentially dangerous bacteria, according to new research by the US Food and Drug Administration. Earlier studies have found high levels of bacterial contamination within sealed and sterile bottles of ink. Unfortunately, the study’s findings were not surprising, said John Swierk, an assistant professor of chemistry at Binghamton University, State University of New York, who has studied tattoo ink contamination. For example, using the same gloves to touch a client and the ink bottle is a hazard that can lead to tattoo ink contamination. “Tattoo inks are in the process of being regulated due to the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (of 2022) but much of that law dealing with tattoo inks has yet to be implemented,” Swierk said.

I found this levered concept incredibly valuable when I ran other peoples' money at my hedge fund years ago. My first question to them, usually interjected, rudely, if I were bored or confused was: "What the heck is this business levered to?"
