“Although lung cancer overall is decreasing because of declines in tobacco use, lung cancer among people who have never smoked has been rising significantly,” Wojcicki wrote in a YouTube blog that was posted Monday. A trend has emerged in the United States of more young and middle-age women being diagnosed with lung cancer at higher rates than men. 1 risk factor for lung cancer, many of these young women being diagnosed have never smoked. Although it remains unclear what exactly is driving this rise in lung cancer among young women, Yu has some ideas. Last year, US representatives introduced the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventative Services Act, which aims to commission more lung cancer research and would require the US Department of Health and Human Services to conduct an interagency review of the status of lung cancer in women, including identifying new opportunities for screening, diagnosis and treatment.

On his "Money for Couples" podcast, self-made millionaire and money expert Ramit Sethi often meets couples with varying levels of income and net worth who feel badly about money. Many of the couples think they just need more money to feel better, but that's often not the case, Sethi tells them. For many people, how you feel about money is uncorrelated to the amount in your bank account. The couple earns a combined $365,000 a year and have a $1.5 million net worth, yet they constantly disagree about financial decisions and can't stop worrying about money. Earlier this season, the Washington Commanders had one of the most improbable, lucky wins of the year. But instead of going down on the ball and ending the game, Juanyeh Thomas returned the kick for a touchdown. Quarterback Cooper Rush, however, had his best game of the season, completing 24 of 32 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns — his first two-touchdown game of the season. "We didn’t play our best. (CNN) — Top telecom executives met with US national security officials at the White House on Friday as concerns mount over a long-running Chinese cyber-espionage campaign that has targeted some of the most senior US political figures in the country. The meetings were a chance for telecom executives to advise the government on how it could boost its defenses against sophisticated hacks, according to the White House. The hack is shaping up to be one of the biggest cyber and national security challenges facing the incoming Trump administration. But the full scope of the hack, who it affects and its impact on national security are still being investigated. US officials and private cyber experts are keeping a running tally of the number of telecom firms breached.

Jordan Neely died from the “combined effects” of a number of a factors, not a chokehold, a forensic pathologist hired by Daniel Penny’s attorneys testified Thursday. Penny is charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the chokehold death of Neely on a New York City subway train in May 2023. Penny, 26, who was a passenger on the train, put Neely in a chokehold and took him to the ground. Chundru said he did not believe that Neely died of a chokehold or that Penny had applied consistent and sufficient pressure to render him unconscious. US satellite TV provider DirecTV has terminated its agreement to acquire Echostar’s satellite television business, which includes rival Dish TV. The deal would have created one of the largest pay TV distributors in the United States, with a combined 20 million subscribers. As part of the transaction, DirecTV was to pay $1 to buy the pay TV business called Dish DBS, including Dish and Sling TV, with the assumption of about $9.75 billion of Dish’s debt. The proposed deal, initially announced in September, was seen as a strategic consolidation in a shrinking pay TV market. DirecTV and Dish have held on-and-off talks over the years.

Morris, like thousands of other customers, was snared in the collapse of a behind-the-scenes fintech firm called Synapse and has been locked out of her account for six months as of November. Then she learned how much Evolve Bank & Trust, the lender where her funds were supposed to be held, was prepared to return to her. The crisis started in May when a dispute between Synapse and Evolve Bank over customer balances boiled over and the fintech middleman turned off access to a key system used to process transactions. Synapse helped fintech startups like Yotta and Juno, which are not banks, offer checking accounts and debit cards by hooking them up with small lenders like Evolve. But that would've required more coordination between Evolve and the other lenders that held customer funds than what ultimately happened.
