Hunter’s two-way stardom is rare; not since Michigan’s Charles Woodson in 1997 has a Heisman winner played on both sides of the ball. In addition to the Heisman, Hunter this season was also named as a finalist for the awards given to college football’s top receiver and top defensive player. As a wide receiver, Hunter caught 92 passes to lead the Big 12 Conference and rank fifth in the country. Hunter, who has said he will enter the NFL draft following Colorado’s season, began his college career by upending expectations. Hunter is Colorado’s second Heisman winner, joining running back Rashaan Salaam in 1994.

Hegseth’s book is an odd mix of slogans and unsupported assertions about the purportedly “Marxist” and “woke” US military. CNN asked the Trump transition for comment on the claims made in Hegseth’s book. In his book, Hegseth is very exercised about the role of women in combat because he says women are less effective fighters. There could also be a battle over the question of “Who lost Afghanistan?” — which Hegseth squarely blames the generals for. In his book, Hegseth is silent on the big issues that a future secretary of defense might have to face, such as the Chinese possibly invading Taiwan.

Stock futures were calm on Sunday evening, with Dow riding a seven-day losing streak into a week highlighted by a key central bank meeting. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked up 31 points, or less than 0.1%. The stock market is coming off a sluggish week. The Dow lost 1.8% last week and has lost ground in each of the last seven sessions. After a broad rally following President-elect Donald Trump's November win, the stock market appears to have reverted to a narrow tech-led move in recent days.

CNN —Nearly three dozen of President-elect Donald Trump’s picks to serve in his incoming administration donated to his campaign or to the deep-pocketed outside groups that worked to elect him, a CNN analysis of federal campaign records shows. In all, the SpaceX and Tesla chief executive donated more than $277 million to federal elections this cycle, the lion’s share of which – more than $262 million – benefited Trump. “Millions of Americans fed up with failure in the White House and federal government joined President Trump in the movement to restore our nation’s greatness. The total donations from Trump’s current Cabinet picks marks a surge from Trump’s first term. McMahon was the largest donor among Trump’s Cabinet picks and the second most generous contributor, after Musk, among the administration members announced through Tuesday, the review found.

Thank you.”Hunter joins the late Rashaan Salaam, who won the Heisman in 1994 with a 2,000-yard rushing season, as CU’s only Heisman winners. He’s the catalyst, he makes everything go and enables Travis to be Travis, but Travis Hunter is doing something we’ve never seen before.”Jeanty only played one position, but few in college football history have ever played it better. Again, Hunter was limited to nine games in 2023, this time after taking a late hit against Colorado State that left him with a lacerated liver. The injuries never deterred Sanders from playing Hunter as much as possible, and this season there was no denying the results. Led by Hunter and Shedeur, Colorado contended for the Big 12 title until the final weekend of the regular season.

Reuters —A Chinese businessman who had forged close links with Prince Andrew and was authorized to act on his behalf to seek investors in China has been banned from Britain on national security grounds. The ban on the Chinese businessman came after the contents of his phone were downloaded when he was stopped under counter-terrorism laws at a UK border in 2021, the ruling said. It said this revealed Prince Andrew had authorized him to set up an international financial initiative to engage with potential partners and investors in China. The prince, 64, the eighth in line to the throne, was a roving UK trade ambassador from 2001-2011. In 2022, the royal family removed his military links and royal patronages.

CNN —Stanley, the drinkware brand that exploded in popularity on social media, issued a recall of roughly 2.6 million travel mugs over potential “burn hazards,” the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced in a release Thursday. “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled travel mugs and contact Stanley to receive a free replacement lid, including shipping,” the commission said. The drinkware brand posted instructions on how to identify models and replace lids on a recall website. The mugs, which cost between $20 and $50 depending on the model, were sold at retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods. CNN has reached out to these companies, along with Stanley, for comment on the nationwide recall.

Between 2009 and 2018, the number of fast-casual restaurants in America doubled, while sales have nearly tripled. When the gravy train stops, fast-casual restaurants are going to be in trouble. To understand why private equity is pouring money into restaurants, we have to start with the appeal of the fast-casual model. The limited menu enables both fast-food and fast-casual restaurants to be efficient, keep costs down, and avoid losses from food waste and labor. There are some Christmas traditions in England that might confuse people from the US. Christmas pudding, a popular holiday dessert in the UK, is probably unfamiliar to most Americans. For the previous study, the team measured the amount of manganese antioxidants in the cells of the bacteria. The researchers found that the amount of radiation that a microorganism could survive was directly related to its amount of manganese antioxidants. So the more manganese antioxidants present, the more resistance to radiation. This antioxidant has been used in radiation-inactivated polyvalent vaccines, which rely on radiation to shut down pathogens like chlamydia. The study team analyzed how MDP’s active components, including manganese, phosphate and a peptide called DP1, protect cells and proteins from radiation exposure.
