Earlier in June, a young couple was rescued on a hiking trail in the California desert after running out of water and becoming dehydrated. Prepare for a hot hike ahead of timeWhether it’s hot or cool, you should be in reasonable shape before tackling any hike. You can do so by taking short, easy hikes in warm weather, progressing up to longer, more difficult hikes in hot weather. You should carry plenty of water when hiking no matter the season, but especially during hot weather. When in doubt, turn around“If you start your hike and think it’s too hot, it’s too hot,” Martinez said.

New Delhi CNN —Nights are getting uncomfortably and dangerously hotter in India’s capital as people in the world’s most populous nation feel little respite from unrelenting temperatures. Northern India has endured a scorching summer — with one part of the capital of Delhi recording the country’s highest-ever temperature 49.9 degrees Celsius (121.8 degrees Fahrenheit) earlier this month. Bicycle rickshaw driver Sagar Mandal told CNN that he’s been getting fewer passengers because people opt for air-conditioned taxis over open-air transport. Outdoor workers like Nikhil Kumar find no respite as the heat lingers on even at night. Residents fill their containers with water supplied by a municipal tanker in New Delhi on 19 June, 2024.

Then, you can plot a graph to see which months are higher and lower than that total to determine when the peak season is. “In Thailand, low season typically spans from April to September with April and May being really hot,” says Ponti. “During this low season the tourist volumes each month constitute more than 7% of the annual total. The landscape is being supported in large part by fans and donors, who can contribute money through organizations known as "collectives" that facilitate NIL activities. NIL collectives typically raise money from fans and other donors to compensate student-athletes in exchange for meet-and-greets, guest appearances, and autographs. The market has been on a tear in 2024, driven higher by robust corporate earnings and the artificial intelligence boom. Traders expect the Fed to begin easing rates in September at the earliest, according to the CME FedWatch Tool. If inflation is cooling down but the Fed is still expected to keep its key lending rate higher for longer, what does that mean for the stock market? The data will tell us that, but I think the big takeaway for us is [inflation] going in the right direction. Do you expect some of the cash that’s on the sidelines to enter the stock market?

The arc of Philipp Lahm’s career had the rhythm of someone meticulously ticking items off a bucket list. He won eight German championships with Bayern Munich, the team he supported as a child. A year later, he captained Germany to World Cup glory. Yet for everything else he has achieved, Lahm will always be remembered in his homeland as the man who ushered in the Sommermärchen, the fairy-tale summer, of 2006. All that year’s World Cup became, all it meant to Germany then and all it means to Germany now, started with his goal in the opening game, here in Munich, against Costa Rica.

Venice is one of those bucket-list places, a city so extraordinary you want to see it at least once. For those of us who love to travel, the question of whether to revisit a place you’ve been to before is a repeated conundrum. You go back to some places to see certain people or to visit in the company of new people. Whichever way, return travel is as much an act of time travel as it is a geographic one. You’ve changed and the place has changed.

It’s the backpacker’s call to India, the sunseeker’s attraction to Mexico, and the digital nomad’s drive to get to Thailand: Go where the dollar buys more. The evergreen budget travel strategy is getting a boost this summer: The dollar has surged against a number of foreign currencies, including the Japanese yen, thanks to high interest rates offered by the Federal Reserve — attracting foreign investment, which bolsters the dollar. “A destination’s weaker currency spells greater value for U.S. tourists,” said Erina Pindar, the chief operating officer and managing partner at SmartFlyer, a global travel agency based in New York City. “This economic advantage could make far-flung bucket list destinations in Asia, such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan, or in South America, like Peru, Argentina and Chile, more accessible than ever before,” she added.

That information was later linked to hospital and mortality records on the development of cardiovascular risk factors. Ultraprocessed foods made from plants increased the risk of cardiovascular disease by 5% while increasing the risk of early death by 13%, the study found. “Plant-based meat alternatives make up only 0.5% of all the plant-based ultraprocessed foods included in this paper,” Scarborough said in a statement. Over half of the plant-based ultraprocessed foods studied in the paper were packaged breads, pastries, buns, cakes and cookies. Many ultraprocessed foods are plant-based, but that does not make them healthy, experts say.

CNN —The planet just marked a “shocking” new milestone, enduring 12 consecutive months of unprecedented heat, according to new data from Copernicus, the European Union’s climate monitoring service. Unless planet-warming fossil fuel pollution is slashed, “this string of hottest months will be remembered as comparatively cold,” he said. “We need an exit ramp off the highway to climate hell.”As temperatures surge, global climate commitments are “hanging by a thread,” he warned. The average global temperature over the past 12 months was 1.63 degrees above these pre-industrial levels. But unprecedented heat has already left a trail of death and destruction across the planet this spring.

At the beginning of the year, I was facing nearly $30,000 in credit-card debt. When December ticked into January, I knew it was time to face something I had been putting off: my credit-card debt. This compounded my stress about my credit-card debt. I had $5,000 in credit-card debt left after that, and I'm following my budget to pay that off. Now, I'm determined to use my clean slate to set up a solid financial future, not one built on debt.

Iraqis have known the bitter taste of war so intimately and frequently over the past 40 years that they say they can feel viscerally the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza. They remember the dreaded whistling of a shell before impact, the fear of a knock at the door bringing word of a loved one’s loss, the stench of blood drying on concrete. Those memories initially prompted thousands of people to join demonstrations on the streets of Iraq’s cities to show their solidarity with the Palestinian cause. But as the war in Gaza dragged on, those displays of support faded. “You want to help,” said Yasmine Salih, a 25-year old dental student, referring to the plight of the Palestinians in Gaza, “but you can’t because your own bucket of troubles is full.”
