Moss and Levene push back against his generalizations, accusations and abuse; Aaronow does not. The bullish Moss baits the hook and reels the weaker man in, planting the idea and prompting further inquiry. And then watch the way he registers that, merely by listening, he has become an accessory to the crime. Mamet’s hyper-stylized dialogue isn’t easy to act; if the rhythm is off, it can feel unbearably phony, “written” rather than spoken. But Arkin more than holds his own against Harris here, and in later duets with Pacino, a similarly heavyweight dramatic actor.

The Google engineer fired after saying an AI chatbot was sentient said it's being "responsible". A Google engineer who was fired after saying its AI chatbot gained sentience said the company is approaching artificial intelligence in a "safe and responsible" way. "I think Google is going about doing things in what they believe is a safe and responsible manner, and OpenAI just happened to release something," he said. He was fired later that month as Google claimed he violated its confidentiality policy. A company representative told Insider at the time that his sentience claims were unsupported and there wasn't any evidence to suggest it had consciousness.
Rumors of a possible romance between the actors Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell swirled online this week after a series of seemingly flirtatious moments catapulted them into the spotlight. The public interest in Ms. Sweeney and Mr. Powell may be heightened because they’re both romantically linked to other people. Ms. Sweeney, best known for her roles in “Euphoria” and “White Lotus,” is engaged to Jonathan Davino, a restaurateur, but has rarely publicly discussed her relationship. “I don’t date people in the spotlight,” she told Cosmopolitan last year. Mr. Powell, who starred in “Top Gun: Maverick,” was reported to be dating the model Gigi Paris.
Character.ai CEO Noam Shazeer, a former Googler who worked in AI, spoke to the "No Priors" podcast. He says Google was afraid to launch a chatbot, fearing consequences of it saying something wrong. Like the chatbot ChatGPT, Character.ai's technology leans on a vast amount of text-based information scraped from the web for its knowledge. Shazeer was a lead author on Google's Transformer paper, which has been widely cited as key to today's chatbots. Google had also received pushback internally from AI researchers like Timnit Gebru who cautioned against releasing anything that might cause harm.

[1/2] Actor Robert Blake speaks to reporters as he walks to Burbank Courthouse in Burbank, California, U.S. August 29, 2005. A wrongful death lawsuit subsequently filed against Blake by her estate led to a civil court judgment that the actor was responsible for her slaying. Blake contended his wife was a victim of her own checkered past, gunned down by an unknown assailant. Blake's acting work was overshadowed four years later by the Bakley murder, which remains unsolved. A paternity test showed that the father was Blake, not Christian Brando, son of actor Marlon Brando, who Bakley had been dating simultaneously.

Lingerie brand Harper Wilde is getting slammed for a recent ad mentioning Ryan Reynolds. According to a company statement, the ad came from a real review left by customer. Harper Wilde/Reddit"The core of our brand is ultimately about designing bras by boob-havers for boob-havers while divesting from the male gaze. While we clearly have customers who are straight women, this single review doesn't represent our entire brand," the company wrote in its Reddit statement.

CNN —Ryan Reynolds was being celebrated Tuesday night at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, but he made the moment about his family. “I’d be pretty remiss if I didn’t mention that it starts with my family and it ends with my family,” he said in his acceptance speech. “Boy, if he could see all the things going on, he wouldn’t be impressed with this stuff,” Reynolds said of his dad. While Reynolds joked about how tiring being a parent of young children can be, he was more serious about how much his family means to him. I joke that my family exhausts me, but in reality you give me more strength than any man could possibly deserve.”

Even in their first efforts, the GAN images were quickly on par with those made by any other, less intelligent software. You can find the results on the Generated Photos site, where you can filter by ethnicity, age, sex, eye color, and other attributes. Generated Photos' GANs tend to match conventional beauty standards, a product of the models that have been fed to the software. I'm not sure anyone would be surprised to find fake images accompanying testimonials on an Estonian bitcoin exchange or an online CBD seller. Are they real people deploying fake images, or fake people deploying fake images?

When I sat down with Blake Lemoine last week, I was more interested in the chatbot technology he called sentient — LaMDA — than the sentience issue itself. As our conversation began, Lemoine revealed Google had just fired him (you can listen in full on Big Technology Podcast). But now, one week later, I can't stop thinking about how LaMDA — conscious or not — might change the way we relate to technology. As LaMDA-like technology hits the market, it may change the way we interact with computers — and not just for customer service. LaMDA technology is a big leap forward.
