Many people see a bright light during their near-death experiences, experts say. “This latest report of persistent brain waves after cardiac arrest has been blown out of proportion by the media. “That is, those patients who had near-death experiences did not show the reported brain waves, and those who did show the reported brain waves did not report near-death experiences,” Greyson told CNN via email. Greyson, who was not involved in the new study, is the coeditor of “The Handbook of Near-Death Experiences: Thirty Years of Investigation.” He and cardiologist Dr. Pim van Lommel, a Dutch researcher and writer on near-death experiences, submitted comments to the journal to publish alongside the new study. It’s correct that the study was not able to match electrical activity with a near death experience in the same patient, Parnia said.

Despite its ubiquity, the play has had only one other Off Broadway production since its premiere — in 2004, starring Adam Rothenberg and Rosemarie DeWitt — and there has never been a Broadway production. “I think a lot of plays have failed on Broadway because they were really meant to be Off Broadway,” said Rockwell, who is working on the show with his producing partner Mark Berger. It’s about two damaged, shame-ridden people trying to find a way out of their own misery. “There are all different kinds of love stories, and this is just one of them,” Plaza said. “And I don’t like the idea that every piece of art that’s out there has to have some kind of social commentary or political message.

CNN —Allies of Ron DeSantis have fired another shot at the Walt Disney Company as the Florida governor’s long-standing rivalry with the media company heats up again. As part of DeSantis’ bill, RCID was renamed the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, and the district’s pre-existing oversight board was replaced by five people hand-picked by DeSantis. Earlier this year, Disney sued DeSantis and the district oversight board in federal court, accusing DeSantis of weaponizing his political power to punish the company for exercising its right to free speech. In May, the oversight board voted to sue Disney in order to maintain its oversight of the district. Earlier this month, DeSantis urged Disney to drop its lawsuit in an interview with CNBC, saying “we’ve basically moved on.”

President Dimon would be square peg in Oval hole

NEW YORK, June 2 (Reuters Breakingviews) - The idea of Jamie Dimon running for U.S. president makes sense in one way: After helming JPMorgan (JPM.N), the biggest bank in the Western world, there aren’t many bigger jobs. There are big reasons, however, why Dimon would be a square peg in an Oval Office. If part of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s appeal rested on empty claims of business savvy, Dimon is the real deal. Trump’s financial failings and Epstein connections didn’t stick, but Dimon probably won’t want to test voters again. Melting snow that continues to fill reservoirs with water will allow the state to fill 100 percent of water requests for the first time in nearly two decades. Even with the spring snow melt, much of the snowpack is expected to last into July or, in some cases, even into August or September, which will help keep Sierra Nevada forests moist and the fire danger lower. For those that don’t want to leave winter behind, several ski resorts are staying open well into the summer. If only for one year, abundant, clear and cold waters will come down from the Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s a breath of fresh air after seemingly endless bad news about water, climate, and natural disasters in the West, one to celebrate.

The spot used USDA funds to disparage plant-based milk, per a complaint filed with the USDA. The ad, which was created using funding from a US Department of Agriculture program to promote dairy milk, features Plaza talking up "Wood Milk," a milk alternative made from trees. Right now, the Food and Drug Administration is seeking public comments on proposed labeling guidelines for plant-based milk. While just 15% of all milk sold in the US in 2022 was plant-based, the category is growing faster than cow's milk: Plant-based milk sales grew 8% to $2.8 billion in 2022, according to the Plant Based Foods Association. CNN —Two adults have been charged after a 7-year-old brought a gun to a Grand Rapids, Michigan, elementary school, authorities said Tuesday. In January, a teacher at an elementary school in Newport News, Virginia, was shot by a 6-year-old student who brought a gun to school in his backpack, police said. “To see an 8-year-old walk into school with a loaded gun shortly thereafter was astounding to me.”The loaded gun was found inside a third grader’s backpack at Stocking Elementary School, CNN affiliate WXMI reported. The gun discoveries on school grounds prompted the school district to announce a ban on bringing backpacks to school. Another Michigan school district, Flint Community Schools, also banned backpacks as of May 1, citing safety concerns.
