Let’s get one thing straight: The polls can’t tell us who is going to win the presidential election. The race is that close and uncertain, and polls in previous election cycles have been that far off the mark. With those caveats out of the way, let’s not ignore the consistent storylines in the polls that have defined the political forces shaping the election. It's not the -33 net rating he had heading into his first presidential election in 2016, but it's not what successful presidential candidates have typically enjoyed, either. And whether he was running against Biden or against Harris, Trump's biggest issue advantage has long been on the border and controlling immigration.

"While Democrats continue to interfere in our election and dismantle election safeguards, we are protecting the vote for all Americans." The Trump campaign declined to comment for this story, referring BI to Zunk's statement. Harris' campaign referred BI to a previous interview with a campaign spokesperson discussing litigation strategy. AdvertisementDemocrats, they say, have already intervened in "dozens of baseless Republican lawsuits to debunk their lies and defeat them in court." Advertisement"The Republican litigation strategy doesn't seem to follow any particular rules, but really is an attempt to throw anything against the wall and see if anything sticks," he said.

MEXICO CITY — A local leader of the Mexican folk saint cult “La Santa Muerte” was gunned down at an altar to the skeletal figure late Friday, authorities said. Two other people were killed and eight injured in the attack in the city of Leon, in Guanajuato state, the authorities added. But that didn’t work for “La Madrina Chayo,” a woman considered a leader of the cult in the north-central state of Guanajuato. Like Mexico’s Day of the Dead holiday, the Santa Muerte is honored on Nov. 1 and 2. While the cult may sound ominous, the annual celebrations honoring the Santa Muerte are friendly affairs, with people warmly greeting fellow worshippers and offering them small gifts.

But nearly 16 years after Lambert’s murder, the case remains unfinished. (Niroula was fatally assaulted in jail while awaiting a new trial; two defendants previously pleaded guilty, and their convictions weren’t overturned.) Then, he and Niroula began developing a plot to defraud and murder Lambert, the prosecutor said. Four of them, including Niroula and Garcia, were charged with murder, conspiracy, grand theft and other crimes, court records show. Less than a month later, a judge overturned the four murder convictions and set the cases for retrial.

Harris and Trump are campaigning in swing states as they make their final appeals to voters. AdvertisementWith Election Day on Tuesday, the end is in sight for what has been a contentious US presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. It wasn't long before Harris began to narrow the gap between the Democrats and the GOP in the presidential race. Now, millions of women live in states with near-total abortion bans, while millions of other women live in states where abortion rights have been strengthened. In the closing days of the race, Harris has heavily emphasized the issue, which also helped Democrats in the 2022 midterms.

Candace Fails screamed for someone in the Texas hospital to help her pregnant daughter. Fails, who would have seen her daughter turn 20 this Friday, still cannot understand why Crain’s emergency was not treated like an emergency. Eight years earlier, the Texas Medical Board found that he had failed to diagnose appendicitis in one patient and syphilis in another. With Pennsylvania expected to be a close and crucial state in the 2024 race for the presidency, it's unusual election laws are again under the microscope. Election experts say Pennsylvania's laws make it fertile ground for rigged election claims to flourish. “The Pennsylvania legislature had multiple opportunities to clarify and improve the state’s election law,” said Nate Persily, an NBC News election law expert and professor at Stanford Law School. Three jurors who condemned Moore to death in 2001, including one who wrote Friday, sent letters asking McMaster to change his sentence to life without parole. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday handed a loss to Republicans by allowing Pennsylvania voters who sent mail-in ballots that were flagged as being potentially defective to submit a separate provisional in-person ballot. The justices rejected, with no noted dissents, a Republican request to put on hold a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling from last week. The Supreme Court action does not definitively resolve the legal issue, which could yet return to the justices. Many of Pennsylvania's counties, which administer elections, already allowed for voters to cast provisional ballots if their mail-in ballots lacked a secrecy envelope even before the recent state Supreme Court ruling. Genser and Matis lost in a trial court, but an intermediate appeals court and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled in their favor, prompting Republicans to appeal again to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Election bets were approved legally just weeks ago, as the 2024 race headed into its home sprint. The ongoing legal wrangling could still lead to a shutdown of U.S. election betting markets, but not until after the 2024 vote. The CFTC permits only U.S. residents to use the newly opened election betting markets, meaning many bettors on the platforms are also potential voters. Nonetheless, Adam Cochran, founder of venture capital fund Cinneamhain Ventures, says he worries about how voters perceive election betting odds. Mansour acknowledged it’s a “fair concern” that the general public might mistakenly see betting odds as the size of a candidate’s lead.

CNN —One year after bringing historic indictments against former President Donald Trump, the prosecutors left in special counsel Jack Smith’s office are gaming out legal options and bracing for retribution if Trump returns to the White House. In the event that Trump wins, staffers detailed to the special counsel’s office would have the option to go back to their home divisions within the Justice Department. But former prosecutors on the Trump case could face a difficult workplace, once Trump’s appointees are running the department. If Vice President Kamala Harris wins, the choices for the department and the special counsel’s office may be much simpler. “Just think of the chaos of it all – that, he [Trump] would love,” one of the former Justice Department officials said.

You can’t look this up in a law book and find an answer to the query because it doesn’t exist.”Previously, prosecutors have not objected to Trump’s bids to delay his sentencing before the election, which Judge Juan Merchan noted in agreeing to postpone Trump’s sentencing until late November. If Trump loses on immunity, his lawyers are expected to ask Merchan to delay Trump’s sentencing so they can appeal. Trump’s attorneys attempted this in 2023, and District Judge Alvin Hellerstein denied it. But following the Supreme Court ruling, Trump’s attorneys made a second attempt this summer. That was denied when Merchan agreed to postpone Trump’s sentencing.

Moore’s attorneys responded Wednesday the case’s “unique procedural backdrop” should allow the justices to consider their arguments. In a lawsuit filed in the Southern District of Florida on Wednesday, attorneys for Megan Thee Stallion accuse Milagro Gramz of “churning out falsehoods” about Lanez while the hip-hop superstar was on trial in 2022 and 2023. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, in the foot and sentenced to 10 years in prison. She is also seeking damages from Cooper “in an appropriate amount” for the emotional distress and false light counts. The move could prompt legal challenges, as a similar policy did in the first Trump administration. To pressure local law enforcement agencies to cooperate, the Trump team would cut off their access to Justice Department grants, the three sources said. After an appeals court sided with the Trump administration, the Democratic-controlled states appealed to the Supreme Court. And that legal maneuver, in essence, ran out the clock on the first Trump administration. Vitiello said a second Trump administration would also offer additional funding to state and local police departments that participate in the mass deportations.

Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, framed the effort in Virginia as a commonsense way of ensuring noncitizens don’t vote. At issue are about 1,600 voter registrations that Virginia said came from self-identified noncitizens but that a US District Court said hadn’t been fully vetted for citizenship status. Noncitizens are not allowed to vote in federal elections; none of the lower court rulings had changed that fact. But documented cases of noncitizens voting are extremely rare. Those opposed to the program relied on a 1993 law, the National Voter Registration Act, which bars states from making “systematic” changes to voting rolls with 90 days of a federal election.
