We've been through the arguments about whether narrow leadership against weak underlying breadth is a good thing, a dangerous thing, or just a thing. This vocal minority might well be wondering how much fruit is left to pick after two straight years of 20%-plus S & P 500 gains. We have an S & P 500 pushing 23-times forward earnings, topped by a $3.75-trillion company called Apple that's now trading above 33-times projected profits. Apple owns December Note that a December push higher for Apple shares is pretty standard stuff when the market is in an uptrend. Apple in general tends to go on a run as a rally matures, rather than lead the market off a correction.

Trump's decision to invite China's Xi Jinping to his inauguration surprised many observers. When President-elect Donald Trump invited China's President Xi Jinping, the leader of the US' biggest geopolitical rival, to his January inauguration on Thursday, it came as somewhat of a surprise. But Trump has long reveled in unpredictability, and has often balanced his confrontational China policies with years of lavishing praise for Xi. AdvertisementSome see Trump's invitation as the latest power play designed to imbalance Xi and reset US-China relations. All of this makes it highly unlikely that Xi will want to come to the US to clap as Trump is sworn in as president.

Somewhat surprisingly for the first ever COO of Google DeepMind, it’s not even artificial intelligence, nor is it coding. “I became an [electrical] engineer because I thought it was a combination of math, art and science. A Nobel-winning ideaIbrahim’s love of engineering was inspired by her Lebanese father, who was orphaned by the time he was five years old and would grow up to become an electrical engineer.
