PARIS, June 22 (Reuters) - The first Paris Airshow in four years has clocked up billions of dollars in commercial jet orders and offered some respite for suppliers as air travel springs back sharply from the pandemic. The industry returned to Le Bourget with high expectations of commercial orders and low expectations regarding the supply chain, but generated a more balanced picture on both fronts. Announced orders reached near-record levels but were heavily dominated by two airlines leading the charge in India, the world's fastest growing market: IndiGo (INGL.NS) and Air India. A key focus of the show was how those planes will be produced after the pandemic disrupted supply chains. Several major companies said they had built up more buffer stocks and were seeing signs of improvement in supply chains.

While there was instability as industry increased production rates prior to 2019, “this is a little different," Deal said. "COVID had a pretty significant impact on labor, and this industry still depends on labor ... to get to its net efficiency." A new report estimates that Ukraine is losing roughly 10,000 drones every month. A sophisticated electronic warfare system is among Russia's biggest strengths, researchers said. Patton Rogers said that while the figures are "likely" overestimated, they underline just how effective Russia's electronic warfare has become at countering Ukraine's extensive use of drones. Sophisticated Russian systems such as the Shipovnik-Aero jamming station are hard to detect and can imitate other signals, the researchers said. NEW DELHI, March 10 (Reuters) - Boeing Co (BA.N) said on Friday it would set up a facility in India to convert 737 passenger planes into dedicated freighters to tap into regional and global demand for the service. The investment, which adds to the U.S. manufacturer's expansion into India on top of a record plane order by flag carrier Air India, comes despite a global economic slowdown that has weakened the global air cargo market. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said global cargo demand in January fell almost 15% year-on-year. He did provide any details about when the facility would be set up or the size of the investment. The planned facility comes amid a push by Boeing to expand in India, including a $24 million investment to set up a logistics centre for aircraft parts.

A jump in air travel demand has driven up sales at its aerospace division, which makes and services engines for Boeing Co (BA.N) and Airbus SE (AIR.PA) jets. GE also reiterated its profit outlook for 2023 as booming demand in its aerospace business is expected to make up for the challenges in its renewable energy business. It expects adjusted earnings of $1.60 to $2.00 per share in 2023, with revenue growth percentage in high single digits. GE estimated that the aerospace business would generate double-digit revenue growth this year, translating into an operating profit of $5.3 billion-$5.7 billion. However, supply and labor shortages have hurt jet engine output, with CEO Culp saying it was a daily battle to meet jet engine demand.
