MEXICO CITY, June 29 (Reuters) - Storm Beatriz formed off Mexico's Pacific coast on Thursday and will likely strengthen into a hurricane by Friday, prompting the government to issue warnings for popular beach resorts as it heads near shore, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. The storm is expected to "move very near or along the coast of southwestern Mexico" and is moving west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h),the U.S.-based NHC said late Thursday. "Beatriz is likely to become a hurricane on Friday," the NHC said. A tropical storm warning is also in effect from Punta Maldonado in the southwestern state of Guerrero, home to tourist hotspot Acapulco, to Zihuatanejo, another popular beach town in the state. Swells were also forecast along Mexico's southwestern coast, likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

"I was quite angry honestly because the court crew wouldn't let us warm up before the match," Ruud said. "I don't know if it was good or not but Netflix was there catching it all. Canada's Auger Aliassime feels the impact of the show most acutely in the U.S., where Netflix has its biggest market. "I thought the episode was really great but there were a couple things that were missed," the American said. "But it's been fun to be part of something Netflix has made together with (the Formula One) "Drive to Survive" and the golf series ("Full Swing").
Facing a depleted men's field, Fritz could run into Denmark's Holger Rune in the quarter-final. Seventh-seed Rune also won his first masters title last year when he outlasted 22-times major winner Novak Djokovic in Paris. On the women's side, Swiatek looks as though she could have little trouble collecting a second straight title in the southern California desert after cruising to victory a year ago amid a blockbuster unbeaten streak. She has the chance to exact a little bit of revenge against potential fourth-round foe Barbora Krejcikova, after the 2021 French Open winner ended her 13-match winning streak in Dubai last month. Tough to see Alcaraz playing in Acapulco, says coach

Feb 28 (Reuters) - World number two Carlos Alcaraz is unlikely to play in Acapulco this week after picking up an injury in the Rio Open final, one of his coaches said. Alcaraz needed treatment for a left leg problem during his semi-final in Rio and picked up an injury to the other leg against Norrie, leaving him doubtful for his first hardcourt event of 2023. "But it's difficult for him to play in Acapulco because of the surface change and without having any previous training." Alcaraz needed his leg wrapped midway through the match against Norrie, prompting his team to consider throwing in the towel. There are players who take a lot to retire while they are playing."
Top seed Alcaraz pulls out of Acapulco with strained hamstring

Feb 28 (Reuters) - Top seed Carlos Alcaraz has pulled out of this week's ATP 500 event in Acapulco with a strained hamstring, the U.S. Open champion said on Tuesday. "I have a grade 1 strain in my right hamstring that will keep me out for several days, according to the tests we did this morning," Alcaraz wrote on Twitter. "I'm really sad I can't compete here, but now it's time to think about recovering and being ready as soon as possible. After spending more than three months out of action due to abdominal and hamstring injuries, Alcaraz returned to the ATP Tour in February at Buenos Aires where he beat Norrie in the final for his first title since last year's U.S. Open. MEXICO CITY — A strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook southern Mexico Sunday morning, sending nervous residents of the capital into the street. The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake’s epicenter was 2½ miles (4 kilometers) northwest of Corral Falso in the southern state of Guerrero. The area sits along Mexico’s Pacific coast between the beach resorts of Acapulco and Zihuatenejo. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said via Twitter that civil defense was checking for damage. Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said there were no reports of incidents in the capital.
This is one of the reasons why Derbez is telling the story of a fictional resort using both English and Spanish. “I was always criticizing movies where I was seeing 007 (referring to the character James Bond) in Brazil and everyone speaks in English,” Derbez, who's also an executive producer of the show, said in an interview with NBC News. And that’s not the way it is.”The same goes for many TV shows being filmed in Mexico, Derbez said, which also show characters speaking only in English. He wants “Acapulco” to stand out by depicting the multilingual reality that he sees and lives in both countries. Episode nine of season two releases Friday on Apple TV+.
Now 76 and living in Oregon, Mountain Girl has gave us an exclusive look at her memoir. Altamont, the free concert that Mountain Girl and Jerry Garcia helped organized, was meant to revive the spirit of the Sixties. Today, 60 years since she took that ride with Neal Cassady, Mountain Girl is still forging her own path. Before I leave Kesey's farm, Mountain Girl and I walk outside to the old brown barn where Furthur now rests. But for Mountain Girl, it lives forever, an emblem of everything her generation believed in, and all that they achieved.

Dintre toţi jurnaliştii ucişi în 2020, 84% au fost vizaţi şi eliminaţi în mod deliberat, în comparaţie cu 63% în 2019. „Unii au fost ucişi în condiţii deosebit de barbare", subliniază RSF.
