However, matching footage has circulated across multiple social media platforms since at least 2021. On May 16, 2021, thousands of demonstrators in downtown Chicago rallied in support of Palestinians, according to reports at the time by the Chicago Tribune and NBC 5 Chicago. Multiple pro-Palestinian rallies took place in downtown Chicago throughout May 2021, ABC7 and the Chicago Sun Times also reported.
