CNN —A New Hampshire couple is suing Eataly Boston after a woman says she slipped and fell on a piece of prosciutto in the store, resulting in a broken ankle. As Cohen approached the area, she says she “slipped and fell on a piece of prosciutto on the floor injuring her left ankle resulting in a fracture,” the lawsuit states. Cohen’s medical expenses as a result of the injury were more than $7,500, according to court documents, which included the hospital fees, doctor fees and physical therapy. The lawsuit claims that Eataly failed to make sure the floor was safe and “free from unnecessary dangers,” for patrons. CNN has reached out to Eataly Boston and the Cohen’s attorney for comment.

Ron DeSantis said Friday that the “theories” put out by former President Donald Trump and his associates following the 2020 election were “unsubstantiated” and “did not prove to be true.”“I’ve said many times, the election is what it is. All those theories that were put out, did not prove to be true,” DeSantis, a Republican presidential candidate, told reporters traveling on his Never Back Down bus tour in Iowa. I mean they’ve been trying to get him since he became president.”Previously, when asked about the 2020 election, DeSantis has pivoted and emphasized a focus on the future, not the past. I mean, that’s the formula for success.”Such a focus on the future is typical for DeSantis when faced with questions surrounding the 2020 election. At a New Hampshire town hall, DeSantis was asked by a high school student if Trump violated the peaceful transfer of power during the 2020 election.

New England biasNew Hampshire’s critics often point out the many ways it does not look like the rest of America. I have covered the New Hampshire primary, and I too found it charming. The clearest pattern is that New Hampshire prefers Democrats from nearby, regardless of their ideology or national appeal. The closest thing to a substantive counterargument from New Hampshire officials is that their state is a swing state, unlike South Carolina, which is solidly Republican. In a very close national election, New Hampshire might even determine the Electoral College result.

Cardona ran for a New Hampshire state House seat in both 2018 and 2020 but fell short in both elections. “Bernie Sanders won in New Hampshire, progressives win in New Hampshire,” Cardona said. As for Williamson’s unusually high turnover at the top of her campaign, Cardona says his predecessors left the campaign due to personal reasons.

New York CNN —President Joe Biden said over the weekend that debt ceiling negotiations were moving along and that talks between the White House and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy would resume on Tuesday. It may become more difficult to access credit, further exacerbating the challenges individuals and companies are already facing because of the banking crisis. Before the Bell: What do the ongoing debt ceiling negotiations mean to small and medium businesses? Do you think bank executives and members of the business community can put pressure on Congress and the White House to come to a deal? The White House has estimated more than 8 million jobs would get wiped out if there is a protracted default.

[1/2] Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump reacts after arriving at Aberdeen International Airport in Aberdeen, Scotland, Britain May 1, 2023. "That was a rigged election," Trump said, adding that anyone who thought otherwise was "stupid." Trump and Collins frequently spoke over each other with Collins challenging a number of the former president's false claims. "It was classic Trump - it was Donald Trump from 2015 right up until now: the Big Lie, the outrageous style, demeaning individuals, mocking them," said Rothenberg, senior editor at the Inside Elections newsletter. New Hampshire is an early nominating state that could prove critical in Trump's bid to win the November 2024 election.
On the day of a special election in New Hampshire in April 2021, Michael Drouin posted a fake advertisement on Craigslist offering a free trailer and listed the phone number of Bill Boyd, a candidate for a state House seat. Mr. Drouin was indicted in November 2022 on a felony charge of interference with election communications. On Monday, Mr. Drouin, 30, of Merrimack, N.H., pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of creating a false document, an election law offense, admitting that he knowingly interfered with Mr. Boyd’s ability to use his cellphone on Election Day. The charge is a misdemeanor, not a felony, but it still cost him his right to vote in the state. People who are convicted of a willful violation of the state’s election laws lose their right to vote under the New Hampshire Constitution.

European privacy regulators are intensifying their scrutiny of companies’ use of artificial intelligence, hiring experts and opening new units to crack down on data violations. “AI is appearing in all sectors,” said Kari Laumann, head of a division for research, analysis and policy at Norway’s data protection authority. The regulator’s office has worked with 64 companies to test AI initiatives under its supervision, in a program started in 2020. Regulators have fined companies for privacy failings in their AI applications in recent years, but European data protection officials and privacy analysts say it is still unclear how to apply some aspects of European privacy law to the technology. Mr. Jairaj said he expects the EU’s coming legislation to force companies to look closely at third-party suppliers of AI products.
