BYD is so much ahead of Tesla in China ... it's almost ridiculous," Charlie Munger, vice-chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, said last month . "Long term, Tesla is not a car company and that's the difference. 'Take profit' in Tesla Wall Street veteran David Trainer has a more bearish view, however, as he urged investors to "take profit" in Tesla.

Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego officially launched his Senate campaign in Arizona on Monday. He said Kyrsten Sinema "abandoned Arizona" and branded her as an advocate for the rich and powerful. His launch tees up a likely 3-way race between him, the newly-independent Sinema, and a Republican. Gallego is well-positioned to win the Democratic primary after fellow Democratic Rep. Greg Stanton opted not to run for Senate. If Sinema runs as an independent, Arizona is likely to see a three-way race in the general election — a relatively rare occurrence.

A lawyer fighting Twitter said Elon Musk tried to "fleece" ex-workers with his offers of severance pay. Musk himself had previously said that people who left the company would be given three months of severance. The former workers told Insider's Kali Hays that they were disappointed by the severance ultimately offered by Musk. CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday reminded investors that pain in the stock market is unfortunately necessary for the Federal Reserve to win against inflation. "Nobody wants to root for layoffs or lower stock prices. But the alternative is persistently high inflation — endless price increases for everything — and nobody wants that either," he said. Stocks fell on Thursday after fresh data indicated that the labor market remains strong, despite the Fed's aggressive interest rate hikes to tamp down rising prices. "If it doesn't show higher unemployment with no wage growth, the Fed will need to keep aggressively raising interest rates," Cramer said.

Stocks may retest lows this year and returns will be near-flat in 2023, according to Goldman Sachs' chief equities strategist David Kostin. The S&P 500 may hit 3,600 in the near term, as companies have revise 2023 earnings forecasts lower, he warned. Next year, the S&P 500 could see nearly flat returns, Kostin added, estimating that it could end 2023 at 3,750 to 4,000. "Therefore, if valuations are roughly at these levels – that's an optimistic scenario in my opinion – and there's not much earnings growth, you basically have a flat market," Kostin warned. And while the S&P 500 is down 17% from levels in January, the price-to-earnings ratio of the index is currently hovering around a multiple of 18.
