After the cartoon supervillainy of Donald Trump and the smarmy misogyny of JD Vance, the “positive masculinity” of Walz and his ilk is a joyful relief, and these programs are often doing good work. Because rather than challenging the old stereotypes and patterns, the whole positive masculinity framework actually seems to be reinforcing them. “Healthy or positive masculinity is the idea that men can be emotionally expressive, have female friends or mentors, and express their emotions without feeling emasculated,” the website of one such program in North Carolina says. There is a lurking sexism in the whole positive masculinity conceit. “Positive masculinity” is not about de-gendering universal human qualities, and certainly not about encouraging boys to believe that they could have something to learn from women or female cultural norms.

In “The Menendez Brothers,” a new documentary, the two men speak in extended interviews about what happened in the 1989 murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, inside the family’s Beverly Hills mansion. According to Lyle Menendez, it “was tremendously painful” when that didn’t happen. They were united in 2018 when he was transferred to the prison in San Diego, California, where Erik Menendez was being held. “The Menendez Brothers” is streaming on Netflix.

U.S. health officials are preparing to screen passengers flying in from Rwanda for symptoms of Marburg virus, a severe infection similar to Ebola. People infected by the virus can start showing symptoms two to 21 days after their exposure, according to the CDC. Marburg is a virus that causes hemorrhagic fevers and internal bleeding, much like Ebola. No Marburg cases have been detected in the U.S. As of Sunday, Rwandan health officials had reported 49 cases, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Also Monday, the CDC issued what’s known as a level 3 travel health notice, warning people against unnecessary travel to Rwanda.

Revenue for Apple's biggest iPhone assembler jumped 20.2% year on year to 1.85 trillion Taiwanese dollars ($57.3 billion). "The result exceeded the company's original expectations of significant growth," Foxconn said in a statement on Saturday. Strong AI server demand led to robust revenue growth for its cloud and networking products division, said Foxconn whose customers include AI chip firm Nvidia NVDA.O. It has scheduled its annual Tech Day on Oct. 8-9, an event where Foxconn normally announces new products or partnerships.
