Man City beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 despite Rodri red card
  + stars: | 2023-09-23 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
MANCHESTER, England, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 home win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, making it six wins out of six despite losing midfielder Rodri to a red card early in the second half. In all, referee Anthony Taylor doled out 11 yellow cards along with Rodri's red, with seven of the yellows coming in a bad-tempered second half as Forest tried to leverage their extra man, but to no avail. I think the first half was brilliant apart from the last 10 (minutes), I think they found us out a little," Foden said. "The second half was not what we expected because Rodri got a red card quite early... it wasn't ideal, but we showed a different side to us today to dig in, and I'm proud of the team." WTI crude futures for November , which will soon be the U.S. front-month, was up about 18 cents to $90.30. Investors were awaiting the Fed's interest rate decision at 2:00 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) to assess the outlook for economic growth and fuel demand. The Fed is widely expected to keep interest rates steady, but the focus will be on its projected policy path. Interest rate hikes to tame inflation can slow economic growth and reduce oil demand.

Prices fell despite a bigger-than-expected draw in U.S. oil stockpiles and weak U.S. shale output that indicated tight crude supply for the rest of 2023. Global benchmark Brent crude futures were last down 88 cents, or 0.9%, at $93.46 a barrel by 0650 GMT. Moya added that the oil market is still "very tight" and will remain so over the short-term. This week, Ukraine has made several attacks using sea drones and missiles on Russia’s Black Sea naval fleet in and around the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed from Ukraine by Russia in 2014. Russia has acknowledged a Ukrainian missile attack that damaged a warship and a submarine this week, but says it has repelled all sea drone attacks.

CFTC data show that funds and speculators are holding a chunky net short yen position worth around $8.2 billion. Contrast that with the euro position, and it is not difficult to envisage a potential narrowing of the gulf in the weeks and months ahead. Citi's U.S. economic surprises index has been positive since May and the euro zone index has been in negative territory since May. Euro zone interest rate traders reckon the ECB is done raising rates, and are now betting on around 70 bps of rate cuts next year. "Today's ECB policy update and stronger U.S. data for Q3 is further encouraging those expectations placing downward pressure on EUR/USD," MUFG's Lee Hardman wrote on Thursday.

New York CNN —Digital World Acquisition Corp., the blank-check firm seeking to merge with former President Donald Trump’s media company, will get another extension to complete its troubled deal. Shareholders voted to grant DWAC (DWAC) another year to pull off its merger with Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, according to an SEC document posted Wednesday. Had shareholders voted against the extension, DWAC would have liquidated, and the social media platform would have to find another financial backer by September 8, 2023. It’s the second time DWAC asked for an extension for closing the deal, the first being in September 2022. In June, federal prosecutors arrested three investors on insider trading charges related to Digital World’s deal with Trump’s media company.

Other prominent Republicans have followed his lead, including Devin Nunes, the former Republican congressman Mr. Trump hired to run his social media network, Truth Social. Mr. Nunes has sued several outlets, including The Washington Post and CNN, for publishing stories that were unfavorable to him. For small local news organizations, many of which are barely getting by financially, the suits threaten to put them out of business. This case, he added is not a “he-said/she said” matter but “a ‘three-said,’ and more.”Through his lawyer, Mr. Tomczyk declined to comment on the case. The lawyer, Matthew M.
