Brian Kemp has emerged as Herschel Walker's most powerful surrogate in the Georgia Senate runoff. Kemp, who won reelection as governor, didn't campaign with Walker during the general election race. This normally wouldn't be a notable act in GOP politics, but the Georgia Senate runoff election is not a normal contest. For that reason, Walker has found himself openly embracing Kemp, who came out of the general election as the biggest winner in Georgia politics. On November 7, Kemp flew around Georgia with most of the statewide GOP candidates — including Raffensperger — but Walker wasn't part of the mix.
A series of graphs published by My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell on his social media channels and livestreams appearing to show real-time U.S. midterm election updates do not indicate or prove fraud, experts told Reuters. Lindell published four graphs on his Instagram account purporting to show real-time vote counts during the elections. But such ‘spikes’ seen in graphs using unofficial election data do not indicate or provide proof of fraud, with races rarely officially called on election night (here). The four graphs appearing to show real-time midterm election data do not point to fraud or nefarious activity. Visualizing unofficial vote counts in real-time where the incoming data may be non-uniform in distribution can lead to apparent “spikes” in graphs, experts told Reuters.

The Atlanta-based railroad said the link is one of the highest-density segments of the company’s network, with as many as 30 trains a day traveling the route. The purchase of approximately 337 miles of railway line that extends from Cincinnati to Chattanooga, Tenn., eliminates uncertainty around future lease costs, Norfolk Southern said.
Brooks was fatally shot by an officer amid national unrest over police brutality after a Minneapolis police officer murdered George Floyd. Two officers located Brooks and bodycam footage showed they had a calm conversation with him for almost 40 minutes. In the footage, Brooks could be seen holding a stun gun he had grabbed from an officer as he ran away. “While we are disappointed that prosecutors didn’t pursue a criminal case against the officers involved in Mr. Brooks’ death, we continue to hold out hope that the Dept. of Justice will intervene in this matter,” Brooks' family's attorneys said on Monday, according to WXIA.

SYDNEY, Nov 17 (Reuters) - A look at the day ahead in European and global markets from Wayne Cole. Good is bad again - or vice versa - as markets worry upbeat U.S. retail sales will lead to higher interest rates for longer. What's bad for Wall Street might be good for everyone else. What's good for bonds will be bad for everyone else. So what's good for markets has to be bad for everyone else.
Nov 17 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Thursday blocked key provisions of a Florida state law that curbs professors from endorsing particular viewpoints in public university classrooms, calling the measure "positively dystopian" in the latest blow to the Republican-enacted measure. Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker in Tallahassee said in a 139-page ruling that Florida's Individual Freedom Act, also known as the Stop WOKE Act, would have unlawfully required public university professors to self-censor. His ruling came in consolidated lawsuits filed by professors and students challenging the Individual Freedom Act, which Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis championed and signed into law in April. A spokesperson for DeSantis did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment, nor did the Florida attorney general's office, which defended the law in court. Attorneys for Florida had argued that the state had full power to restrict what public university professors, as state employees, could say in their classrooms.
Haven Realty Capital and JPMorgan Chase's asset management arm said they will invest up to $1 billion to develop build-to-rent single-family homes across the country, according to a November 15 announcement. It refers to a process where developers construct an entire community of typically detached single-family homes that are later rented out by an operating partner. The trend gained steam during the COVID-19 pandemic as demand for single-family homes and suburban living skyrocketed. Institutional investors like Fundrise as well as pension funds, and public companies have been steadily acquiring single-family homes to rent for a profit. He told Insider in early November that the build-to-rent trend is a "useful response to the market's needs."

Data for September was revised higher to show these so-called core retail sales rising 0.6% instead of 0.4% as previously reported. Late on Tuesday Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said policy tightening so far has not dented inflation, and on Wednesday San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly said pausing the hiking cycle is off the table and is not part of the discussion. Until recently, Daly was one of the most dovish members of the Federal Open Market Committee. Her comments helped push Wall Street into the red on a day when bulls might have expected to have the upper hand. The more the economy refuses to slow, the more aggressive the Fed will have to be. Wall Street - and stocks and risk assets around the world - has a problem.
San Francisco Federal Reserve President Mary Daly said Wednesday she expects the central bank to raise interest rates at least another percentage point, and possibly more, before it can pause to evaluate how the inflation fight is going. Thus far, the Fed has hiked the fed funds rate, which spills over into a slew of other consumer debt products, six times, including four consecutive 0.75 percentage point moves. Traders see the central bank adding another 0.5 percentage point when it meets again in mid-December, then moving a bit higher before stopping around the 4.75%-5% range. The Fed is using its primary tool of interest rate increases to right inflation that still is around its highest level in more than 40 years. Daly said she expects higher rates to continue to have an impact on the economy and bring inflation back in line.

The euro lost 1.5 cents as the news from Poland unfolded but has regained all of that since. European bourses have been less quick to rebound and remain in the red, with aerospace and defence stock outperforming. "Tighter money has not yet constrained business activity enough to seriously dent inflation," Bostic wrote on the Atlanta Fed's website. U.S. attention will turn to retail sales on Wednesday as October data is due for release alongside industry readings. Nov 15 (Reuters) - Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic said on Tuesday he sees little evidence that the U.S. central bank's aggressive monetary policy tightening is slowing inflation, and borrowing costs will have to rise further for that to happen. "Tighter money has not yet constrained business activity enough to seriously dent inflation," Bostic said in an essay to be posted on the Atlanta Fed's website. "I anticipate that more rate hikes will be needed" to get policy sufficiently restrictive to return inflation to the Fed's 2% target, he said. "Right now, job number one for the FOMC is to tame inflation that is unacceptably high," Bostic said, referring to the U.S. central bank's policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee. The Fed's preferred measure of inflation is running at more than three times its 2% target.
Brian Kemp is set to testify Tuesday morning before the special grand jury investigating possible 2020 election inference by former President Donald Trump and his allies, a source familiar with the arrangements told NBC News. The scheduled testimony of Kemp, who won re-election last week, comes after a Georgia judge in August denied his bid to avoid testifying before the grand jury. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled that Kemp does not have to testify until after the November election. Weeks after the 2020 presidential election, Trump told Fox News that he was “ashamed” he had endorsed Kemp in 2018. The former president recruited former Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., who sowed doubt on the 2020 election results, to challenge Kemp in Georgia’s gubernatorial primary.
