WASHINGTON, Sept 13 (Reuters) - The husband of U.S. Representative Mary Sattler Peltola died in a single-engine Piper PA-18 crash in Alaska, her office and U.S. agencies said Wednesday. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the plane crashed shortly after takeoff near St. Mary's, Alaska, around 8:45 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Only Peltola's husband, who was the pilot, was on board. Senator Ted Stevens and three others died in a 2010 plane crash in Alaska. In Washington, people often move between jobs as Capitol Hill staffers and as lobbyists. Per a new analysis, Republicans have hired way more former lobbyists than Democrats in the last year. But it's an issue for both parties — roughly even numbers of Democrats and Republicans became lobbyists. Congressional staff often develop expertise and connections from their time serving on Capitol Hill — assets that make them attractive hires for lobbying firms hoping to influence public policy. Additionally, the employment of ex-lobbyists as staffers raises the prospect that those staffers may be biased towards their former employers when formulating policy and drafting legislation.

New York CNN —Soccer superstar Leo Messi’s arrival in America has sparked a surge in ticket prices, apparel and now, streaming subscriptions. MLS Season Pass, which is Apple’s streaming package that broadcasts the soccer matches, experienced 1,690% growth in sign-ups the day Messi first played for his new team Inter Miami, according to analytics firm Antenna. Newly released data shows that the streaming package had about 6,000 subscription sign-ups the day before, but that soared to 110,000 sign-ups on his July 21 debut in the Leagues Cup. But nearly half of MLS Season Pass sign-ups to date happened in July after Messi joined the league, showing the surge in interest that Messi brought to Major League Soccer. That isn’t a surprise since his deal with Inter Miami includes a cut of the revenue from new subscribers of MLS Season Pass, according to multiple reports.
