CNN —Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are tied among likely voters in North Carolina, while Harris holds a comfortable lead in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, according to two new CNN polls conducted by SSRS. In North Carolina, Harris and Trump stand at 48% each among likely voters. In Nebraska’s 2nd District, the so-called blue dot encompassing Omaha, Harris has 53% to Trump’s 42%, the poll finds. An 86% majority of Democratic likely voters and 69% of independent likely voters favor keeping the current system, while 69% of GOP likely voters say they’d rather move to a winner-take-all system in the state. But just 41% in North Carolina say they’re very confident, rising to a 59% majority in Nebraska’s 2nd District.

Two in three voters say the country is on the “wrong track,” as voters weigh whether Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump would be better able to change that less than two months from Election Day. The latest NBC News national poll finds 65% of registered voters surveyed earlier this month say the country is on the wrong track, while 28% say it’s on the right track. “While the wrong track data is now under 70% for the first time since September 2022, it is still a terrible 65% for the party in power,” Horwitt said. NBC News surveys have found steadily high rates of voters saying the country is on the wrong track for years — and especially since the coronavirus pandemic began in March 2020. But Harris does have an advantage over Trump when voters were asked which candidate better represents change, with 47% saying Harris and 38% saying Trump in the poll.

Florida ranks sixth among states with the largest shares of homeowners who don't have meaningful insurance. Putnam County, in the northern part of the state, is at 32.9%, while in Miami-Dade County, nearly 25% lack homeowners insurance that would protect them from calamity. In Miami-Dade County, 33.5% of homeowners pay $4,000-plus a year, ranking it in the top 10 among the country's most populous counties. Curtis, who has lived in Taylor County for 40 years and is a former forester, said many of her neighbors can't afford to pay for insurance. Global chip stocks rallied on Thursday after U.S. memory semiconductor maker Micron posted revenue guidance that topped expectations and boosted its share price. SK Hynix and Micron are both suppliers of memory chips to Nvidia's products designed for artificial intelligence processes in data centers. HBM chips are seen as key for AI. Micron reiterated that its HBM chips are sold out for 2024 and 2025. The optimism around Asian chip stocks filtered through to Europe.

☆ Survey: 73% of Amazon workers are considering quitting after 5-day in-office mandate

Amazon workers have until January before they'll be expected in corporate offices five days a week, but some aren't expecting to stick around that long. In a recent survey of 2,585 Amazon employees on anonymous job review site Blind, 73% said they are considering looking for a new job following CEO Andy Jassy's recent memo announcing a full-time return-to-office. Further, 80% of the Amazon professionals polled reported that they know of a colleague considering looking for another job because of the announcement. Another survey from Glassdoor finds that 74% of Amazon workers are "rethinking" the future of their careers, whether at the tech giant or elsewhere. Amazon workers are "strongly dissatisfied" with the policy change, according to an anonymous survey created by employees, reported by Fortune.
