Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid shoved a newspaper columnist during an altercation Saturday, according to multiple reports. The altercation happened in the 76ers’ locker room after the team’s 124-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, according to multiple reporters who were in the locker room for a postgame media availability. Embiid reportedly shoved Marcus Hayes, a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer. In his column, Hayes mentioned Embiid’s son and late brother as reasons for why Embiid should start playing. Before the current season, Embiid said in an effort to help preserve his knees — which have both required surgery in the past — he would “probably never” play in back-to-back games again in his career.

Mortgage rates may affect payoff calculusThe mortgage payoff calculus may change based on whether people can outearn their mortgage rates with safe, guaranteed investments, Benz said. For mortgage rates that are 6% or more, paying that balance off will provide a guaranteed return. Admittedly, the argument over whether to pay off mortgages is "much more emotional and psychological than it is financial," Jenkin said. The big money questions people ask themselves to prepare for retirement are just as important as the emotional ones. What brought you joy while you were working may change in retirement, Michael Finke, a professor of wealth management at The American College of Financial Services, tells Benz.

Despite its growth, Nvidia isn't among the top-performing stocks of the last century. Below, we list the 27 best-performing stocks since 1925, according to Hendrik Bessembinder's. Yet, data in a recent paper published by Bessembinder shows it still has a ways to go to sit among the top-performing stocks of the last 100 years. In the paper, Bessembinder looked at over 29,000 US stocks and compiled a list of the 30 stocks with the highest cumulative returns over the last century, assuming a buy-and-hold strategy and the dividends reinvested. Interestingly, negative returns were a more common outcome than gains, with 51.6% of stocks being in the red.

With so much at stake, CNN has identified 10 races to watch on Tuesday – grouped into buckets that nod to broader themes across the House landscape. Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger decided against seeking a fourth term, instead launching a campaign for governor in 2025. Democratic Rep. Jared Golden has crafted a moderate profile by challenging his party on issues ranging from spending to immigration. This year she faces a challenge from GOP state Rep. Gabe Evans, a fellow Mexican American and a former Army helicopter pilot and police officer. GOP Rep. Zach Nunn, an Air Force officer, was first elected in 2022 – defeating Democratic Rep. Cindy Axne by about 2,000 votes.

Neither former President Trump nor VP Kamala Harris would be able to act on them imminently. Despite its inability to provide broad cancellation, Biden's Education Department has issued targeted relief that has given nearly 5 million borrowers debt cancellation to date. Constance, 65, has nearly $200,000 in student debt, an amount that's ballooned since she graduated from law school in 1994. "I would expect continued improvements and limited expansions of debt relief where legally possible under a Harris-Walz administration," Partridge said. Britain’s Conservative Party on Saturday elected Kemi Badenoch as its new leader as it tries to rebound from a crushing election defeat that ended 14 years in power. Badenoch defeated rival lawmaker Robert Jenrick in a vote of almost 100,000 members of the right-of-center party. Badenoch replaces former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who in July led the Conservatives to their worst election result since 1832. The Conservatives lost more than 200 seats, taking their tally down to 121. But the party also lost many voters to the winning party, Labour, and to the centrist Liberal Democrats, and some Conservatives worry that tacking right will lead the party away from public opinion.

Here are five keys to Harris’ bid to make history and become the first woman, the first Black woman and the first Indian American person to become president. Harris cannot afford much slippage with these groups, which are full of low-propensity voters who need encouragement to turn out. Here are five keys to a Trump victoryBut will that curiosity materialize into actual votes for Trump at the ballot box? They could give Harris a crucial boost because these voters tend to reliably turn out in election after election. In addition, Trump has campaigned heavily on the fears of migration and blamed Harris for chaos at the southern border.
