Mark Zuckerberg's five-word motto "move fast and break things" spawned Meta's multibillion-dollar success and inspired an entire generation of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. In a TED Talk earlier this year, Morriss decried the idea behind Zuckerberg's phrase, suggesting instead that CEOs and leaders everywhere should "move fast and fix things." She offered a five-step guideline you can use to fix problems in your workplace, with each step assigned to a day of the week to keep you on schedule. Your goal should be to create a "good enough" plan to fix your problem, Morriss said. So, if we have not first earned trust and we go fast, we will break things guaranteed.

ELLEN STUTZMANEllen Stutzman was the one sitting across the table from Lombardini in the failed negotiations that led to the writers strike. Stutzman, also an attorney, took over as chief negotiator for the Writers Guild on Feb. 28, just two weeks before contract talks began. She still has the title from her previous role: assistant executive director for the Writers Guild of America West. Drescher's less-known counterparts on the writers' side — technically two unions that unite for negotiations and strikes — are Michael Winship and Meredith Stiehm. Winship is president of the Writers Guild of America East and Stiehm president of its counterpart in the West.

They’re all Latinos who’ve been shamed for the way they speak Spanish. About half of US Latinos who don’t speak Spanish have been shamed because of it, the study says, noting that 54% of Latinos who speak no more than a little Spanish say another Latino has made them feel bad for it. “There’s a subtle but ongoing shift in the share of Latinos who speak Spanish at home,” Lopez says. “I don’t know how he knows what I said on Univision, because he doesn’t speak Spanish.” Cruz fired back – in Spanish – and the debate continued. According to Pew’s study released this week, most US Latinos speak Spanish, but the share of Latinos who do differs by generation.

The Senate has relaxed its dress code, allowing senators to wear any attire in the chamber. Ted Cruz, who sometimes walks to votes in workout clothes, was less angry about the change than others. But he's not alone: Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is also known to wear workout clothes from time to time, especially around unexpected afternoon votes. "I plan to wear a bikini tomorrow to the Senate floor," Republican Sen. Susan Collins joked to reporters, saying the change "debases the institution." And on Twitter, Cruz has made light of the changes, assuring his followers that he will not be wearing a speedo on the Senate floor.

On Sunday, Axios reported that the Senate won't be enforcing its dress code any longer. In response, 70-year-old Sen. Susan Collins joked that she'd wear a bikini on the Senate floor. She said the lack of a dress code "debases the institution." "I plan to wear a bikini tomorrow to the Senate floor and Chris Coons is gonna wear shorts because there's no dress code anymore," Collins said before adding that doing "away with the dress code, to me, debases the institution." GOP firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted on Sunday that she thought the change in dress code was made simply "to appease Fetterman," which she said "is disgraceful."

It's not everyday you see a CEO take a customer service call. Apple's Tim Cook helped a caller with an iPhone decision during a "CBS Sunday Morning" interview. You guys thought I'd screw it up," he jokingly told onlooking Apple employees after the call. Rudy Giuliani's ex-lawyer has filed a lawsuit seeking nearly $1.4 million in unpaid bills. Costello and Giuliani's advisor Ted Goodman didn't immediately respond to requests for comment on Monday evening. One of Trump's PAC has also paid $340,000 to a legal records firm that Giuliani owed money to, records show. In July, a panel of the DC Bar recommended that Giuliani's law license be revoked. Giuliani isn't the only Trump ally to fail to pay legal fees to Costello.

Tim Cook says the Vision Pro is on track for a release early next year. Cook said he used the headset regularly and watched soccer drama "Ted Lasso" on it. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the Apple CEO pushed back on reports the headset had been hampered by manufacturing delays. Cook said he was using the Vision Pro on a "regular basis" and had been able to watch the entire third season of "Ted Lasso" on it. Three reasons Biden’s problems appear to be overblown

But while Biden clearly has problems – no president with an approval rating hovering around 40% is in good shape – some of his issues appear to be overblown at this time. It is worth analyzing whether the fact that a lot of Democrats don’t think Biden should be renominated masks a larger problem he could face in a general election. But Biden’s pulling in more than 90% of Democrats in Fox News and Quinnipiac University general election polling released this past week. The fact is Biden’s got problems, but worrying about renomination is not one of them. Most voters think Biden did something inappropriate related to his son’s business dealings.

The new iPhone 15 is about to hit the stores, and Apple CEO Tim Cook might have already sent one to his most important investor — Warren Buffett. He bought Apple shares after realizing how devoted people are to its phones, and its unique ability to keep consumers spending within the Apple ecosystem. His return has been well over $100 billion on paper, making Apple Buffett's best investment over the past decade. "Our railroad is a very good business, but it's not remotely as good as Apple's business," Buffett said at the Berkshire shareholder meeting in May . The billionaire investor has called Apple Berkshire's "third-largest business," after its insurance and railroad holdings.

Here's a look at what's happening, and what may happen, with the awards that have been thrown off course. Because they are still tied to the traditional fall-through-spring broadcast television season, the Emmys have been among the few awards shows held in September. The January date will put the Emmys within the rest of Hollywood's awards season, when red carpets rule and performers are on the promotional prowl. It would also throw the Oscars, and the entire awards season, into doubt. ___For more on the actors and writers strikes, visit: https://apnews.com/hub/hollywood-strikes/

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Some of Donald Trump 's top rivals for the Republican presidential nomination will address a gathering of influential Iowa evangelical Christians on Saturday night, hoping to woo them away from the former president at an event he is skipping. Former Vice President Mike Pence planned to attend the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition's annual banquet and town hall in Des Moines along with Florida Gov. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz used strong appeals to evangelical Republicans to win the GOP's 2016 caucuses. Biden has also proposed federal rules to prohibit schools from categorically banning transgender athletes in school sports. His proposal would allow schools to institute limits designed to ensure fairness or prevent sports-related injuries.

Opinion | What to Keep in Mind About Mitt Romney

Reading the recent excerpt from McKay Coppins’s forthcoming biography of Mitt Romney of Utah, I was struck by the depth of the senator’s contempt and disdain for much of the Republican Party, including many of his colleagues in the Senate. He saved his harshest words, however, for those Republican senators who would do or say anything for political power and influence. What bothered Romney most about Hawley and his cohort was the oily disingenuousness. Hawley and Cruz “were making a calculation,” Romney told me, “that put politics above the interests of liberal democracy and the Constitution.”As for the latest crop of Republicans, Romney had this to say: “I don’t know that I can disrespect someone more than J.D. Romney was, after all, the first senator in American history to ever vote to remove a president of his own party from office.

Bobby Schiffman, who guided the Apollo Theater in Harlem through the seismic cultural and musical changes of the 1960s and early ’70s, cementing its place as a world-renowned showcase for Black music and entertainment, died on Sept. 6 at his home in Boynton Beach, Fla. In 1961, Mr. Schiffman inherited the reins of the storied neoclassical Apollo Theater on West 125th Street in Manhattan from his father, Frank Schiffman. The elder Mr. Schiffman, along with a financial partner, Leo Brecher, had taken over the theater — a former burlesque house that opened in 1914 as a whites-only establishment — in 1935. During the 1930s and ’40s, the elder Mr. Schiffman provided early exposure to countless African American luminaries, including Count Basie, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington. “In Harlem show business circles he was God — a five-foot-nine-inch, white, Jewish, balding, bespectacled deity,” the music writer Ted Fox observed in his 1983 book, “Showtime at the Apollo.”

Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at a South Dakota Republican party rally in Rapid City, South Dakota, September 8, 2023. Ron DeSantis, is also scheduled to speak at the two summits hosted by the Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee and the Family Research Council. Casey DeSantis is also taking a lead role in "Mamas for DeSantis," a campaign initiative aimed at mothers. Just 14% of women in the same group picked DeSantis, while 5% chose former United Nations Amb.

Mr. Romney lives a hermitlike existence in Washington. Mr. Romney, 76, has few friends in Washington, and he did not follow President Harry S. Truman’s adage to get himself a dog. Publicly, Mr. Romney has long been on an island in a party subsumed by Trumpism. Mr. Romney also recalled a 2019 visit Mr. Trump made to the weekly Senate Republican lunch in the Capitol. Donald Trump calls global warming a hoax and President Biden offers feel-good solutions that will make no difference to the global climate. On China, President Biden underinvests in the military and President Trump underinvests in our alliances. Romney, his party's 2012 candidate for president, voted twice to convict Trump in the Senate after the House twice impeached the former president.
