Read previewThe jury in Jennifer Crumbley's manslaughter trial is hearing evidence about her Costco parking lot love affair after the judge on Wednesday reversed her decision to keep it out of court. Jennifer and James Crumbley face involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the Oxford High School shooting in November 2021 carried out by their son. The Crumbleys originally planned to stand trial together but in November requested separate trials after prosecutors claimed in court filings that Jennifer Crumbley blamed her husband for the shooting. At the time, the judge ruled that evidence of the affair would not be allowed at trial. But that ruling was reversed on Wednesday after Brian Meloche — the firefighter with whom Jennifer Crumbley was having the affair — testified .

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday told investors not to be wary of the Big Tech megacap stocks, saying their high valuation is well-earned. But Cramer refuted such claims, saying all of these tech names have hefty revenue streams to back up their valuations. He pointed out the proven probability of the megacaps, including three that reported quarterly earnings Thursday after the bell: Apple, Meta and Amazon. Cramer said the three generated upward of $300 billion in revenue and nearly $59 billion in net income combined. "You may think that these megacap stocks are somehow wrongly valued versus the rest of the market," Cramer said.

Story highlights Biden goes to Michigan to meet with UAW members a week after receiving the union's endorsement Trump and Biden are battling for the votes of union members. While in Michigan on Thursday, the president will be meeting with UAW members, a Biden campaign official told CNN. The event, at a union hall near Detroit, will feature an “informal” conversation with union members, according to the campaign. In a fiery speech while delivering the group’s endorsement, UAW President Shawn Fain said Biden was the clear choice in a matchup with Trump. Since the group publicly backed Biden, Trump has hit back, slamming Fain as a “dope” and vowing that he could revive the automobile industry in the United States.

Even though the IPO market is heating up, CNBC's Jim Cramer said he thinks it's been "hit or miss" so far. He told investors not to buy Amer Sports, which debuted Thursday at a discount, saying the company has a poor balance sheet. "And, I've got to tell you, Amer Sports is a great example of the kind of deals I wish we weren't seeing." Saddled with $2.1 billion in debt, Amer Sports has a balance sheet that is "less than ideal," according to Cramer. Cramer conceded that Amer Sports has seen decent growth over the last few years, but much of that growth came from sales in China.

CNBC's Jim Cramer reviewed Wednesday's market action, telling investors to look beyond hot stocks and pay attention to "sleepers." "The game is self-correcting: The too-hot eventually cool down, the sleepers wake up and get too expensive themselves," he said. To Cramer, this piece of Fed action and resulting sell-off means investors can be more decisive about their portfolios. Cramer looked at several high-profile stocks that reported solid numbers Tuesday night but fell Wednesday, saying investors had raised expectations too much before earnings. "With this background of the Fed doing nothing, you got to err on the side of picking players that haven't run too much," Cramer said.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday suggested railroad stocks may be starting to climb. "Boy is that terrific for the West Coast operators, and there you're thinking about Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific Kansas City." Cramer reviewed earnings reports from Union Pacific , Canadian Pacific Kansas City , CSX and Norfolk Southern , saying all except the latter have potential. Canadian Pacific Kansas City saw the largest volume growth of the bunch. If investors feel confident about the economy, they have Cramer's "blessing to stick with Union Pacific, Canadian Pacific, or CSX — in that order, by the way — and forget about Norfolk Southern for the moment."

Nucor CEO Leon Topalian debriefed the steelmaking company's Tuesday earnings report with CNBC's Jim Cramer, explaining why the company has been especially profitable over the past few years. "This represents the third most profitable year in Nucor's history behind 2022 and 2021," Topalian said in the company earnings call. "In fact, Nucor's combined net earnings over the past three years exceeds the combined net earnings of the last 20 years. This is a testament to the focus and dedication of our team as we execute our strategy to grow the core, Expand Beyond, and live our culture." Topalian said Nucor benefits from a number of government initiatives that boost demand for steel and incentivize domestic manufacturing.

CNBC's Jim Cramer examined Tuesday's "wild" market action, saying it may be best to wait before making any big decisions. "There's just too much noise here, let's just wait and see," he said. Cramer said Tuesday marked a reversal, with previously booming Big Tech stocks taking a hit while stocks outside the sector — like banks, steel makers and automakers — saw gains. "Are these all island reversals that are just too difficult to overcome, where the stocks open up big and then plummeted?" "Or is tech taking a breather until some of that juicy money from the sidelines takes advantage of the first price break of 2024?"

The need for more transplant organs is immense and growing. Researchers have transplanted genetically modified pig kidneys and hearts into people who were brain-dead to test whether they work in humans. Although Larry Faucette was too sick for a human heart transplant, University of Maryland doctors said he seemed physically strong enough for a genetically modified pig heart. It was more than a decade after the first heart transplant but long before such procedures became relatively routine. “We learned that the pig heart is an adequate substitute for a human heart.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday said tech companies dominate the market because their primary customers are cash-rich businesses, not strapped consumers. "We have a market made of companies that sell into the enterprise and those stocks are doing fabulously," he said. "Then we have even more companies who serve the consumer, which is a much less attractive customer base right now, and their stocks, they're very tough to own." But Cramer conceded that Apple and Tesla differ slightly from the pack. "I don't worry about the concentration of winners in tech because, alas, the concentration makes sense," Cramer said.

In a Monday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, NASCAR President Steve Phelps discussed his company's new deal with Amazon Prime streaming, saying Amazon is a sticking force in sports distribution. NASCAR announced last year it entered into a seven-year agreement with Prime Video, giving the platform exclusive rights to five of its Cup Series races in 2025. Phelps was "thrilled" about NASCAR's partnership with Amazon, saying the deal was his company's first "pure streamer" at its Cup Series level. Amazon averaged 13 million viewers during its first NFL game last season, with viewership on the platform growing 24% this season. Netflix is set to release a NASCAR documentary series, 'NASCAR: Full Speed,' on Tuesday.

These days, it has also become a welcome center of sorts for migrants. Volunteers are working there daily, accepting donations of socks, puffy North Face jackets, snow pants and bars of soap. For more than a month, city officials said, buses from Texas have avoided Chicago entirely, dropping hundreds of migrants in suburbs that have been given no warning that they are en route. In December, Chicago enacted penalties for bus operators who drop off passengers outside of designated times and locations or without a permit. The dynamic has played out elsewhere as well, sending some migrants to New Jersey suburbs of New York City.

The administration appears to be struggling with finding Arab American and Muslim leaders who are willing to even meet with White House officials, and no Muslim or Arab American groups have endorsed Biden’s reelection bid. And I think that’s a pretty good descriptor of Arab American voters right now.”The ceasefire calls are coming from a diversity of progressive groups, including those representing Jewish voters, voters of color and young people – key parts of Biden’s winning 2020 coalition. In the last presidential election cycle, Biden received the support of several prominent Muslim American elected officials and community leaders. At least 146,620 of the 200,000 Muslim American voters in Michigan cast a ballot in the 2020 election cycle, according to an analysis by Emgage. Some Arab American and Muslim voters say even if Biden’s campaign ramps up their outreach, it will be too late.

Rivian CEO says EV market suffers from a lack of choice

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe on Friday discussed the electric vehicle market with CNBC's Jim Cramer, saying EV automakers need to give consumers a wider variety of models to choose from. "What I think we're witnessing today is a lack of choice," Scaringe said. Rivian is trying to broaden its offerings with a new line of R2 vehicles, which Scaringe will be smaller and less expensive than current Rivian models. Even Tesla , one of the few profitable EV companies, cut costs last year, reducing prices of new cars by 20%. But Scaringe said he's confident the world will eventually make a lasting shift to EVs, saying government policies will drive that change.
