Today's EVs run on lithium ion batteries — mostly made with lithium, cobalt, manganese and high-grade nickel, whose prices have soared. The EVs of the future — those arriving after 2025 — could shift to sodium ion or lithium sulfur battery cells that could be up to two-thirds cheaper than today's lithium ion cells. China's CATL (300750.SZ) has said it plans to begin producing sodium ion cells in 2023. Michigan-based Amandarry and British startup AMTE Power (AMTE.L) are developing sodium ion batteries using sodium chloride — basically table salt — as the main cathode ingredient. Battery developers hope they can add sodium ion and lithium sulfur batteries to the range open to the auto industry.
Unhappy Perez says Verstappen showed "who he really is"

Nov 13 (Reuters) - Red Bull's Sergio Perez said team mate Max Verstappen showed "who he really is" after the double Formula One world champion refused to give back a place in Sunday's Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The radio comment came after the Mexican let Verstappen overtake on the understanding that the position would be returned if the Dutch driver could not pass Alpine's Fernando Alonso for fifth place. Perez needs every point to beat Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to overall runner-up while Verstappen has already clinched the title. Perez and Leclerc are now tied on 290 points, with Leclerc ahead 3-2 on race wins. Verstappen, who had been penalised for a collision with Mercedes's Lewis Hamilton, was told by his engineer Gianpiero Lambiase to let Perez through at the finish but ignored it and took sixth, with Perez seventh.
CNN —George Russell won his maiden Grand Prix on Sunday after a collision-ridden race in Brazil. With one race left on the 2022 calendar, Russell moves up to fourth in the driver’s standings, a place ahead of eight-time world champion and teammate Hamilton. SAO PAULO, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Red Bull's Sergio Perez lapped fastest in first free practice for the Sao Paulo Formula One Grand Prix at Interlagos on Friday with the top three drivers separated by just 0.008 of a second. Double world champion Max Verstappen, Perez's team mate, was a further 0.004 adrift. Red Bull are chasing their 10th win in a row this weekend while Verstappen is seeking a record-extending 15th win of the season. Four-times world champion Sebastian Vettel, heading for retirement after the final race in Abu Dhabi, lapped seventh fastest for Aston Martin and fellow-German Mick Schumacher was eighth for Haas. McLaren's Lando Norris, who cancelled his media engagements due to suspected food poisoning on Thursday, took part in the session and was 15th fastest.
NO KIDDING"You're kidding," Magnussen had said over the team radio when told he was fastest as the red flags were waved. Saturday will be the third such race of the season, with Verstappen winning the two previous ones at Imola and in Austria. Seven-times world champion Hamilton suffered as a result of his team mate's spin and will start the sprint from eighth place. "I will speak to the team and understand what we can do better in those conditions," he said. "I accepted the decision to go on the inters and then I waited for the rain that never came."

At issue is the settlement claims process, funded by Godiva and executed by Kroll Notice Media Solutions. According to class counsel, Godiva recently directed Kroll “to conduct several additional rounds of review” of class claims that had already been validated. Adding to the intrigue: In September, class counsel told Preska that Godiva had informed them that the company did not have enough money to pay class members. It's also rare, Frank said, for class counsel to ask a judge to get involved in the post-settlement claims administration process. CNN —The Ferrari in which Michael Schumacher won his sixth Formula One world title has smashed auction records to become the most expensive F1 car in history. The F2003-GA sold for $14.9 million in a Sotheby’s auction in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday, almost doubling the previous record for an F1 car when Schumacher’s F2001 fetched $7.5 million in 2017. According to Sotheby’s, Schumacher recorded five race wins, two podiums and three pole positions in the F2003-GA. In that season, the German finished just two points ahead of Kimi Räikkönen in the championship standings to claim the sixth of his seven world titles. By claiming his sixth world title, Schumacher passed Juan Manuel Fangio’s record tally and then went on to win his seventh title the following year – a number Lewis Hamilton matched in 2020.

Golden Knights 4, Maple Leafs 3 (OT)Reilly Smith scored his second goal of the game 23 seconds into overtime and visiting Vegas defeated Toronto. Oilers left winger Evander Kane was stable and transported to a local hospital for a procedure following a serious left wrist laceration in the second period. REUTERS/Adriano MachadoNov 7 (Reuters) - Seven-times Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton was made an honorary citizen of Brazil on Monday by the country's lower house of Congress and dedicated the honour to his boyhood idol, the late Brazilian triple world champion Ayrton Senna. The lower house passed in June a bill to make the 37-year-old an honorary citizen that was proposed by congressman Andre Figueiredo after the British driver won the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix for the third time. "I have so many amazing memories of Brazil," Hamilton said. Hamilton pledged to continue pushing for diversity and said that visiting the Amazon rainforest was one of his dreams.
Elon Musk said he won't ban the Twitter account that tracks his private jet. Musk previously offered the account owner, Jack Sweeney, $5,000 to take it down. Sweeney thanked Musk and told Insider he'd still be open to discussing a new deal to take it down. Musk previously offered Sweeney $5,000 to take down the account and asked for advice on how to make his jet less trackable, Insider's Isobel Asher Hamilton reported in January. Sweeney told Insider in a phone interview Sunday he was "pleased" Musk addressed his account but wasn't surprised by his decision.
But Fed Chair Jerome Powell dashed those hopes during his press conference when he talked about how the Fed is still extremely worried about inflation. Here’s the thing, though: Investors are paying way too much attention to what Powell and other Fed members are saying about the economy and not focusing enough on numbers that show how the economy is actually doing. So much can change and there is always a constant flood of new data (and new speeches from Fed policy makers) to digest and parse. Keep an eye on that data more than Fed speeches and volatile interest rates futures. And the fed funds rate futures are going to keep changing based on what the latest economic reports look like.

CNN —“Stranger Things” superfans can now live in the very same house where season 4 villain Vecna first developed his supernatural powers – if they dare. Vecna, the antagonist of season 4 of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things,” started off as a regular boy named Henry Creel. The real-life house that acted as the Creel home in the show is a 140-year-old mansion located in Rome, Georgia. The home is officially for sale for $1.5 million through brokerage Toles, Temple, and Wright, according to the listing. There’s also a guest house behind the main house.
Demonstrations erupted on Sunday in support of Bolsonaro after he was narrowly defeated by Lula, who previously governed from 2003 to 2010. Carvalho asked Brazil's federal police to open an official probe on 70-year-old Piquet to "clarify the facts". He said that Piquet, as a public figure, should have been aware that his remarks had the power to reach hundreds of thousands of people. One of Lula's closest allies, Senator Humberto Costa, stated earlier this week he was filing a complaint against Piquet with the public prosecutor's office following his comments. His latest remarks come just days ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, which is set to begin in Sao Paulo on Nov. 13.
