CNN —When Hamas militants broke through the Gaza fence in this month’s unprecedented attack on Israel, the kibbutz of Mefalsim – less than two miles from the border – was on the front lines. That precision, local Israeli security personnel say, was no accident: The fighters seemed to have known exactly where they were headed. The new restrictions will also affect rival chips produced by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O) and Intel (INTC.O), according to analysts. In its filing, Nvidia said two of its modified advanced AI chips - the A800 and H800 - both of which it created for the Chinese market to comply with previous export rules, would be blocked for sale under the new rules. Nvidia and a number of other chipmakers saw shares fall Tuesday morning after the U.S. announced new restrictions on exports of artificial intelligence chips to China. Shares of chip stocks have boomed in the last year due to the increased demand for AI products and services, which is powered by AI chips. The new restrictions on exports to China are a step up from previously announced restrictions on artificial intelligence chips that the Biden administration had implemented over the last year. The new restrictions ban the sale of the slowed-down version of Nvidia chips, the H800 and A800, that were allowed to be exported to China under the old restrictions. Nvidia believes that the increased restrictions will not immediately lead to a material effect on its financial performance.

KeyBanc Capital Markets said Tuesday that the new restrictions are a negative for Nvidia, arguing "it will ultimately be difficult to backfill China demand." The A800 and H800 are modified versions of Nvidia's cutting-edge AI chips used in data centers, known as the A100 and the more recent H100. To comply with the new rules, Nvidia created the A800 and H800 chips, which had slower data-transfer speeds and therefore didn't violate the export controls. The latest export controls, which U.S. officials said will go into effect in 30 days, again threaten those sales.

Now, the winged criminals have gone one stop further, causing an hour-long shutdown and two hours of chaos at the city’s airport.
