Bishop Carlton Pearson died Sunday night in hospice care in Tulsa due to cancer, said his agent, Will Bogle. Pearson was shunned by other evangelical leaders, branded a heretic and later became a United Church of Christ minister. Pearson ran unsuccessfully for Tulsa mayor in 2002, a defeat he blamed on public reaction to his teachings. Pearson in 2000 was among a group of 30 clergy who advised then President-elect George W. Bush on faith-based social programs. Pearson is survived by his mother, a son, a daughter and his former wife, Bogle said.

Rome CNN —An Italian court has sentenced more than 200 crime gang members to a total of 2,200 years in prison, following the country’s largest mafia trial in three decades. It took the court one hour and 40 minutes to hand down its rulings, Italian news outlet Ansa reported. Among those tried were 42 women – a record for a mafia trial – of whom 39 were convicted. The trial took place in a specially-built bunker in Lamezia Temre, southern Italy, amid safety concerns. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A$AP Rocky could learn Monday whether he will be ordered to trial on allegations that he fired a gun at a former friend and collaborator outside a Hollywood hotel. It appears to show Rocky brandishing a gun and possibly firing it, though his lawyers deny that he did so. Rocky was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in the case in April, and charged in August. He was found guilty of assault at trial but was given a “conditional sentence” that meant no additional jail time. Now, Rocky is being represented in the Los Angeles case by Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina, who representing the ex-president in his New York criminal case and others.
