ICC prosecutor Karim Khan announced in May he was seeking arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders – including Gaza chief Yahya Sinwar – over charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The court has no means of enforcement, however ICC members have an obligation to cooperate fully with its decisions. If the warrants are granted, Netanyahu and others could risk arrest when traveling to the 124 countries that are ICC members – including Germany and the United Kingdom. The international court still must assess submissions from other powers before making a decision on whether to grant the request for arrest warrants. The UK’s governing Labour party and its leader, former human rights lawyer Keir Starmer, have faced pressure from supporters to take a tougher stance on the Gaza war.

The conditions are aimed at ensuring that nearby hospitals aren’t overwhelmed by the increase of patients expected after Beth Israel closes. The Health Department said Beth Israel must fund an expansion of the emergency room at Bellevue, the flagship of the city’s public hospital system. Another condition is that Beth Israel must run an urgent care center, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for three months. A spokesman for the Mount Sinai hospital system, Loren Riegelhaupt, said in a statement that Beth Israel would remain open and accept patients, for now. Beth Israel was founded in 1889, initially as a dispensary serving mainly Jewish immigrants on the Lower East Side.

Open seating helped Southwest load and unload passengers, which Southwest CEO Bob Jordan said meant more on-time departures and cost savings on Thursday’s earnings call. Even as other airlines switched to assigned seats in recent decades, Southwest kept its boarding process the same. ‘Sad day’Some loyal Southwest customers vented their frustration about the policy change on social media. CNN —Donald Trump said Friday he plans to return to Butler, Pennsylvania – the place where the former president survived an assassination attempt nearly two weeks ago – for a rally that will honor slain supporter Corey Comperatore and those injured in the shooting. Trump’s right ear was bloodied, and he appeared days later at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee wearing a large white bandage over the injured ear. Trump and his allies used the Republican convention to deliver calls for unity in the wake of the assassination attempt. “What a day it will be – fight, fight, fight!” Trump said Friday in his social media post announcing the Butler rally. CNN —Former President Donald Trump is meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, the first such meeting between the two men since Trump left the White House more than three years ago. Trump, who often claims he was the most pro-Israel president in modern history, once touted his close, personal relationship with Netanyahu. Netanyahu called Trump the greatest friend Israel has ever had and heralded him for “unequivocally” standing by Israel during Trump’s tenure as commander in chief. In posting that engagement with Abbas, Trump was trying to “strike a balance” going into the meeting, Bahbah said, adding that he hopes Trump will come out of the Netanyahu meeting calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. “At the table, the most important question is asking the prime minister what he needs to win.

In announcing the policy change, Southwest said their research showed 80% of customers preferred an assigned seating system, while 86% of new customers did. AdvertisementIt also means navigating the chaos that can be found at essentially every other airline's gate besides Southwest. Some families also love Southwest's open seating policy for this reason. But without the open seating, the airline is losing part of what sets it apart — even if that means gaining new customers.

He believed Kurtz deserves credit for quickly engaging the media on Friday, apologizing, and promising solutions — even if social media users say the apology didn't come fast enough. The steps to take in a crisisGood crisis management can be boiled down to a few simple yet crucial steps, the two experts told BI. But as disruption from the CrowdStrike outage slowly lessens, many are still concerned by the in-built potential of technology-reliant systems crashing, bringing down all operations with them. Griffin said his company, which provides crisis management software, is now reviewing its plans and policies to prevent the kind of tech failure CrowdStrike experienced. "The bottom line is that crisis management is not a check the box; it is an evolution and requires continuous training, exercising, and learning to improve, especially as the nature of threats and types of incidents evolve."

Washington CNN —President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to speak on Thursday – a high-stakes meeting that comes at a crossroads for both Israel’s war in Gaza and Biden’s political future. The moment is also crucial as Israel’s operations in Gaza threaten to snowball into a broader regional war, as Israel and Lebanon continue to trade cross-border fire. Over the past 15 years, China has expanded its once-minimal military presence in the South China Sea into a significant one. China has used nonmilitary assets such as its Coast Guard, fishing vessels and maritime militia to bully its neighbors, blockade their ships and build Chinese military bases on disputed islands. Like any unchallenged bully, China has become increasingly aggressive. Last month, Chinese Coast Guard personnel attacked a Philippine supply vessel with axes and other crude weapons — Manila says a Filipino sailor and several others were injured — in one of the worst acts of violence between China and its rivals in the South China Sea in years. The shoal lies about 120 miles off the Philippine island of Palawan and is well within the nation’s exclusive economic zone.
