WASHINGTON — An ex-police officer "betrayed" his sworn oath by warning a fellow Donald Trump supporter who entered the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 to remove his Facebook content about the attack, a federal prosecutor told a jury Tuesday. Afterward, Riley told Hiles he would give him a tour of the Capitol next time. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Dohrmann told jurors Tuesday that "there was nothing legal or funny about what happened at the Capitol on Jan. "He was duped" by Hiles, Macchiaroli said. "He made a mistake, he had a lapse in judgment," Macchiaroli added, arguing that Riley didn't intend to obstruct a federal grand jury.
The bank will now have three operating segments - asset and wealth management, global banking and markets, and platform solutions. Goldman Sachs outlined leadership changes for the new units, with Marc Nachmann becoming global head of the asset and wealth management division. In the consumer and wealth management business, Goldman saw revenue jump 18% to $2.38 billion in the quarter, reflecting higher demand for loans and higher fees from managing assets. Goldman said its consumer unit will be folded into two separate businesses - wealth management and the newly created platform solutions. The Platform Solutions unit will include GreenSky, the fintech lender Goldman bought in a $2.2 billion deal.
With this, Goldman Sachs wraps up earnings reports from big U.S. banks this quarter on a largely positive note. "A better-than-feared earnings season may well be the catalyst the market needs to see a break in the steady grind lower." Netflix (NFLX.O) added 2.4% ahead of reporting its earnings after markets close. The reversal of parts of a controversial UK fiscal plan that had roiled bond markets also aided sentiment. Toymaker Hasbro Inc (HAS.O) fell 1.3% upon posting a 28% fall in quarterly profit, highlighting that inflation-hit consumers were further discouraged by price hikes.
Prosecutors accused a former Capitol police officer of telling a January 6 rioter to delete evidence. But the following day, prosecutors say, Riley messaged Hiles directly over Facebook to urge him to remove posts — including selfies and videos — admitting his presence inside the Capitol. Kicking off Riley's trial on Tuesday, Dohrmann displayed several messages Riley exchanged with Hiles over Facebook in the weeks after January 6. "You see, the defendant never wanted these Facebook messages to see the light of day," she said. Despite Riley's encouragement to delete his Facebook messages, Hiles never removed them, allowing them to be used as evidence against the former Capitol police officer, Dohrmann said.
Elon Musk once dug through snow to pick flowers after forgetting to buy his wife a Christmas gift. Talulah Riley, who lived in Boulder, Colorado with Musk at the time, said there had been a lot of snow. He went out for two hours in the night and returned with a "bouquet of picked flowers." "He came back two hours later and he'd gone outside in his T-shirt and shorts, barefoot, and he'd gone and dug through the snow and picked flowers." In the second episode of the documentary, Riley described the world's richest man as the most emotional person she knew.

LOS ANGELES—When Lincoln Riley took the top job at Southern California last November, he knew he was saying yes to a rebuild. What he didn’t realize was how many parts would be required to restore the Trojans to the elite status they once knew. Long one of the glitziest programs in college football, USC’s shine dulled considerably over the last decade. After Clay Helton was fired two games into the 2021 season, 54 players on the roster left via graduation, the NFL draft, the transfer portal or retiring from football.
Elemy, a $1.15 billion startup, promised families and healthcare providers quick access to autism care for kids. The current and former Elemy employees who spoke to Insider for this story requested anonymity because they feared retaliation from the company. ABA therapy, while somewhat controversial, is the most widely used treatment to teach kids with autism new skills and discourage challenging behaviors. At the direction of leadership, Elemy employees on the business-development team told those organizations to send their kids with autism, according to four former employees directly involved in forming referral relationships. Each ABA company performs its own expensive, time-consuming behavior assessments, and some insurers pay for only one assessment every six months, he said.
Oct 11 (Reuters) - Merritt Paulson, the CEO of the Portland Thorns and their Major League Soccer counterparts, the Timbers, said he was removing himself effective immediately, following a report that detailed abuse in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). An investigation released earlier this month said that abuse and sexual misconduct were systemic throughout the NWSL and that the league and U.S. Soccer failed to put in "basic measures" to safeguard players. The report also said that the Thorns failed to be transparent about the 2015 firing of a former coach, who was accused of abuse, and that U.S. Soccer and the NWSL did not stop him from coaching elsewhere. A report in The Athletic a year ago detailed allegations of misconduct against Riley, prompting a reckoning throughout the league. "No matter what happens, ensuring the long-term health and success of the Portland Thorns is critical to me, as I know it is for our players and the community."

CNN —Although the new “Hellraiser” is billed as “reimagining” Clive Barker’s 1987 horror film, it’s not like the title ever went away, raising six direct-to-video productions (the last one in 2018) after the four theatrical movies. It also fits Hulu’s strategy of premiering movies culled from well-known franchises, with “Prey” – from the “Predator” universe – among the recent examples. For those just seeking another fix of Pinhead and the Cenobites, that’s probably enough to get the job done. But once “Hellraiser” has made that, er, point, the movie feels more like a snack – or ‘bite – than a meal. “Hellraiser” premieres October 7 on Hulu.
