Paqui, a company under Hershey, pulled its One Chip Challenge following a teen's death. One Chip Challenge packaging warned children not to eat, but is spicy food really that dangerous? Paqui's One Chip Challenge tortilla chips are almost black in color and comes in a lime green wrapper. AdvertisementAdvertisementWhile the autopsy results for 10th-grader Harris Wolobah are still pending, the teen's family alleges that the One Chip Challenge is responsible for his Sept. 1 death. The container warns consumers to not give the chip to children, but due to One Chip Challenge's popularity, many teens ate the chips anyway, leading to hospitalizations in some cases.

Mara Manus, a former executive director for the New York State Council on the Arts, will become the chief executive officer at Pioneer Works, the nonprofit cultural center in Brooklyn, its board of directors announced on Tuesday. Manus, who will start in October, replaces the executive director Maxine Dalio, who left at the end of last year, and the interim chief Jill Eisenhard. She will work closely with the artist Dustin Yellin, the founder of Pioneer Works; Gabriel Florenz, its founding artistic director; and the astrophysicist Dr. Janna Levin, the chief science officer. The appointment marks a pivotal moment for Pioneer Works, which is housed in a former iron works factory in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. Lately its ambition has grown; in a major capital project, it now plans to open a publicly accessible roof deck observatory — a rarity in New York City.

CNN —Officers from London’s Metropolitan Police have found and arrested Daniel Khalife, the force announced Saturday, marking the end of a three-day manhunt for the terror suspect who escaped from prison on Wednesday. “Metropolitan Police officers have arrested Daniel Khalife, who escaped from HMP Wandsworth on Wednesday 6 September,” the police statement said. The 21-year-old terror suspect’s escape from Wandsworth Prison on Wednesday sparked a sprawling search that delayed flights and led to heightened checks at British ports. Khalife escaped the prison by strapping himself to the underside of a delivery van while dressed as a chef. By the time police tracked down the truck, two miles east of the prison, Khalife was gone and all that remained of his escape was the strapping officers discovered under the van.

Michelle Lujan Grisham's emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public in and around Albuquerque drew an immediate court challenge from a gun-rights group Saturday, as legal scholars and advocates said they expected. The governor, a Democrat, said the 30-day suspension, enacted as an emergency public health measure, would apply in most public places, from city sidewalks to parks. The top Republican in the New Mexico Senate, Greg Baca of Belen, also denounced Lujan Grisham’s order as an infringement on the gun rights of law-abiding citizens. Levinson said she was not aware of any other governor taking a step as restrictive as Lujan Grisham. “I don’t think it will be a political loss for (Lujan Grisham) to be overturned,” Levinson said.

Indian artist Jagjot Singh Rubal gives final touches to an oil painting of U.S. President Joe Biden, at his workshop in Amritsar on September 5, 2023, ahead of the two-day G20 summit in New Delhi. The pair's absence has sparked fears that a communique binding member states may not be issued at the end of a G20 leaders' summit — undercutting India's clout and diminishing his domestic messaging. At a pre-summit press conference Friday, India's G20 sherpa Amitabh Kant said the final declaration "is almost ready." In their joint statement after their Friday bilateral meeting, Biden and Modi "reaffirmed their commitment to the G20." Despite recently traveling to South Africa for a BRICS meeting, Xi has rarely traveled abroad.

Roblox, the popular kids gaming platform, is looking to bolster revenue by giving a wider swath of users the ability to create and sell more types of digital goods. The company said on Friday that subscribers to the Roblox app's upper-tier premium plans, which give users a monthly allowance of the Robux digital currency, will be able to hawk their 3D goods to other users. Previously, Roblox gamers could only create and sell 2D goods like virtual clothing and were required to apply and win approval to be part of the company's user-generated content (UGC) program in order to do the same with 3D assets. When customers use the currency to buy virtual items within games, Roblox shares 30% of the revenue with the game developer. By allowing Roblox users to create and sell 3D goods, the company could gain more paid subscribers who are willing to spend money for that feature.

Hot on the heels of a record test loss to world champions South Africa in their final warm-up, the All Blacks lost a perfect record in World Cup pool phase matches that went back to the first tournament in 1987. "Stats are stats and I understand all that, but in the past we've won all the pool games but not necessarily won the tournament, the goal is to win a tournament," Foster told reporters. "But we're not down in the sheds, we're just frustrated that we lost a game. "South Africa lost in 2019 the first game against us and went on to win the competition," he said. To win that we need to win the next three, and the way you do that is focus on the next one.

London CNN —It will be a bittersweet day for Britain’s royal family Friday as they mark not only the first year of King Charles III’s reign but the one-year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Charles is currently in Balmoral – the beloved royal property in Aberdeenshire where his mother retreated annually for a summer break. The Prince and Princess of Wales viewed the floral tributes to the Queen at Sandringham, September 15, 2022. The pair will then meet people from the local community – some of whom previously met Queen Elizabeth II during various visits to the city. For several royal experts, the King has used the past 12 months to blend the two reigns and strengthen the monarchy.

"We felt there was a lot of pressure in the first half, it took, us time to relax and they scored quickly and easily. Envisioned two decades ago to add vibrancy and draw people to a place of devastation and mourning, the Perelman Performing Arts Center is finally arriving at a very different ground zero. Still, organizers believe the arts space, also called “PAC NYC,” has an important role to play in one of the most sensitive, historic spaces in the United States. “The performing arts center is kind of an amenity for a luxury neighborhood that they built,” said Todd Fine, who runs a advocacy business for historical preservation in lower Manhattan. Early on, the arts center was to house three established groups — two theaters and a visual arts museum — plus a new museum celebrating freedom. Then he came to see it as a step forward for the trade center and on a personal level, an embrace of living life fully.

PARIS, Sept 7 (Reuters) - New Zealand coach Ian Foster said the All Blacks had a point to prove in their World Cup opener against hosts France on Friday, a match he thought was unprecedented in terms of hype but which ultimately might not turn out to be hugely important. "Do we have a point to prove? Then we'll really assess after that to see where we're at, and how we progress in this tournament." "The All Blacks have learned over history, you just don't turn up at a World Cup and get what you want just by being here," he added. The All Blacks have never lost a World Cup pool match but Foster said it might not matter much in the greater scheme of the tournament if they were beaten on Friday.

Between xx releases, she worked in the background on songs for artists like Dua Lipa and King Princess. When the producer Mark Ronson once asked her if she wanted to sing a song they’d written together, she declined. But she couldn’t picture herself singing a pop song. Racial and class segregation have also long shaped and limited access to public places. "The fundamental rule of public space is that what attracts people most is other people." So it's counterproductive to stop responsible drinkers from enjoying themselves in parks, at street fairs, and in other public places. There are an average of eight public toilets for every 100,000 people in the US, but access to facilities varies widely. By contrast, countries like the UK and Switzerland have many more public toilets per capita.
