I don't know how JPMorgan Chase knew that I would spend $200 on Botox in Argentina, but it did. It's great that banks and credit-card companies are getting better at discerning which payments are fraudulent and which are legit. Credit-card fraud protection is still far from perfect, but there's no denying that the technology is improving. So I reached out to some credit-card companies and academics to learn more. But it's cool that companies really are making fraud detection better, especially in a world where fraudsters themselves are constantly getting better.

In the roughly 25 years they've been together, they've moved 15 different times across Canada and Taiwan, Martin, 45, told Business Insider via email. An old college roommate of Martin's had moved to Taiwan and recommended she do the same to take advantage of the country's lower cost-of-living. Several moves and over two decades later, Martin said relocating so often took a significant toll on their finances. Moving to Taiwan was great for their finances — but came with downsidesMoving to Taiwan helped the couple pay off debt, but being far from Canada came with some challenges.

Microsoft is on the verge of a major turning point with Copilot, analysts said. Analysts from investment bank Wedbush Securities said in a note on Friday that they believe the tech giant is having its "iPhone moment" in AI. Related storiesFor Microsoft, Copilot might be the driver. AI is on track to change the tech industry forever, and they predict it will continue to push Microsoft cloud products like Azure forward. Microsoft Cloud generated $35.1 billion in revenue in the first quarter — up 23% year-over-year — and Nadella said investing in Copilot is part of the reason.

Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said that despite their success, Chinese automakers are still some distance behind Tesla when it comes to the underlying technology that powers EVs — but warned that they could catch up quickly. Related storiesHowever, Rawlinson warned that Western car makers must not "underestimate" the ability of their Chinese rivals to quickly catch up on core EV technology. After once laughing off Tesla's Chinese rivals, Musk now seems a lot more worried, telling investors that Chinese EVs are likely to "demolish" the competition if trade barriers aren't put in place. The company has slashed prices on its high-end Lucid Air sedan to compete with Tesla, and produced less than 10,000 vehicles last year.

Food and energy prices have soared since the West imposed sanctions on Russia, he noted partly because Russia is one of the world's largest exporters of oil and grain. Even the US dollar may end up worse off due to sanctions, Rubin said. Russia's trade with China, for instance, has nearly completely phased out the dollar, Russian officials said last year. Japan is not seeking a strong yen but rather aiming for a relatively stable currency, according to veteran investor David Roche. The Japanese yen has been on a roller coaster ride, with the currency breaking past 160 against the greenback last week — steepest decline in more than three decades. "The Japanese are not aiming at a particularly strong yen. Japan could not "possibly speak to have policy that really results in a strong yen unless they tighten monetary policy," Roche said, adding that it would involve raising interest rates by at least 50 basis points and allowing "unsterilized intervention" of the yen. As far as I can see from the statistics, they've [Bank of Japan] done nothing like that," Roche noted.

Applebee's and IHOP owner Dine Brands thinks its deals can lure away fast-food customers who have grown frustrated with menu prices. As Applebee's leans into value with a slate of promotions that includes the return of Dollaritas, Dine Brands CEO John Peyton is confident that the chain can beat out the fast-food chains vying for its customers.
