DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Yemen's Houthi rebels for the first time Tuesday claimed missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, drawing their main sponsor Iran closer into the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip and further raising the risks of a regional conflict erupting. There also has been at least one attack that the Houthis claimed where suspicion later fell fully on Iran. In 2019, cruise missiles and drones successfully penetrated Saudi Arabia and struck the heart of its oil industry in Abqaiq. While the Houthis claimed the Abqaiq attack, the U.S., Saudi Arabia and analysts blamed Iran. Iran's mission to the U.N. did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the Houthi attacks.

For the most part, people in the entertainment world could trust that they were on the same political page. That changed abruptly with the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel. There are currently no federal laws in the United States against the creation and sharing of non-consensual deepfake pornography. This is the online landscape that has allowed creating and trading non-consensual deepfake pornography to develop into a thriving business. With advancements in artificial intelligence, deepfake pornography is becoming increasingly common — and it almost exclusively targets women. Deepfake porn sites are facilitated and enabled by search engines that drive web traffic toward deepfake content. In the US, however, only a handful of states have laws addressing non-consensual deepfake pornography, and many of them are limited in scope.

Just last week, he was giving “pointers” to some of our very seasoned directors, who in turn complained to me. So I have to ask, is there a professional way to tell someone they are too arrogant about their role within a company? I’m all for collaborative work environments, mentoring younger colleagues, and encouraging people to pursue their ambitions for advancement. This new policy feels like they don’t trust us, and it seems overkill to have to check in daily. Corporations often create busywork for one reason or another, and maybe they don’t trust you, but why do you care?

Get the latest news in aviation, food and drink, where to stay and other travel developments. CNN —It was billed as the first ‘affordable’ long-term cruise for people who wanted to live onboard while sailing the world. But a week before the original departure date, passengers who’ve signed up with Life at Sea cruises are still waiting to find out when they will hit the high seas. The company says it will arrange new tickets for those with non-refundable fares, “once the new embarkation date and location have been officially determined.”However, the company is adamant that the cruise will still depart – albeit late. Passengers have previously expressed their concerns that the cruise might be indefinitely delayed, or even canceled.

The Consequences of Elon Musk’s Ownership of XNow rebranded as X, the site has experienced a surge in racist, antisemitic and other hateful speech. Research conducted in part by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue concluded that anti-Semitic tweets in English more than doubled after Mr. Musk’s takeover. Keeping X at the center of public debate is exactly Mr. Musk’s goal, which he describes at times with a messianic zeal. Even worse, the article argued, Mr. Musk’s changes appear to be boosting the engagements of the most contentious users. A month into Mr. Musk’s ownership, the platform stopped enforcing its policy against Covid-19 misinformation.

The Employee Retention Credit was intended to be a financial lifeline to small businesses struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic. Innovation Refunds — a consulting firm that focuses on the ERC — was one of the most visible advertisers during the tax credit's heyday. How Innovation Refunds worksOn its website, Innovation Refunds makes it clear it is not a tax professional. Innovation Refunds markets to clients, determines if they are viable candidates for the credit and then collects businesses' documentation. Some former employees said this could insulate Innovation Refunds from potential liability if ineligible businesses claimed the credit.

Having employers examine social media wasn't a winning idea for most people. Only about four in 10 workers were comfortable with letting employers mine social media posts — signed or anonymous — for insights. That could come from sites like Glassdoor or apps like Blind or even social media posts that don't identify individuals. Not surprisingly, younger workers were somewhat more comfortable than their older colleagues with companies monitoring social media posts. Among Gen Z and millennial workers, 45% were OK with employers reviewing non-anonymous social media posts.

While the total number of deaths decreased overall, suicides among active-duty troops went up slightly, fueled by significant spikes in the Marine Corps and the Air Force. The Defense Department officials said there are a number of legal challenges to enacting some of the gun safety measures. The Defense Department has been grappling with widespread shortages of mental health personnel and a difficult push to reduce the stigma of seeking help. The Marine Corp saw the biggest increase, from 43 to 61, followed by the Air Force, which increased from 51 to 64, and the Navy went from 59 to 71. The Reserves dipped from 76 to 64, with only the Air Force Reserves showing an increase.

SEATTLE (AP) — An Idaho woman is suing her one-time fertility doctor, saying he secretly used his own sperm to inseminate her 34 years ago — the latest in a string of such cases brought as at-home DNA sampling enables people to learn more about their ancestry. He charged $100 cash for each of several treatments, saying the money was for the college or medical students who were donating the sperm, the lawsuit said. But the newspaper reported that Claypool claimed he had no knowledge of the allegations and didn't know Sharon Hayes. “But this is the first I’ve heard of anything in 40 years.”A number of cases of “fertility fraud” have arisen as online DNA services have proliferated. A Colorado jury awarded nearly $9 million to three families who accused a fertility doctor of using his own sperm to inseminate mothers who requested anonymous donors.

CNN —When Google Maps users navigated to the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt on Tuesday, they might have seen placenames that included, “F**k Israel,” and “May god curse Israel’s Jerusalem.”Cyber activists appeared to have targeted the service to post anti-Israel messages, likely by taking advantage of a feature on Google Maps that allows people to create and contribute information about businesses and landmarks that appear on the service. The company did not say if the action was at the request of the Israel Defense Forces. Google took the same action at the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year after online researchers used live traffic data to track the movements of Russian troops. It is unclear if the targeting of Google Maps with anti-Israeli messages was the result of the company’s decision to disable live traffic data. After CNN shared several examples of fake anti-Israel placenames with Google on Tuesday, a company spokesperson said, “On Google Maps, we strive to strike the right balance of helping people find reliable information about local places, and reducing inaccurate or misleading content.
