CNBC's Jim Cramer reflected on the earnings season so far, saying investors shouldn't judge stocks based purely on figures from a financial report. he said, referring to earnings season. But comments from CEO Ted Decker about the home improvement giant's inventory made Cramer optimistic. Cramer predicted that TJX would see success despite less-than-ideal earnings where management issued light guidance. "I have no illusions about this issue — It's extremely unlikely that the headline process will actually change," Cramer said.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday told investors he'd like to see more transparency about Google-parent Alphabet 's various ventures, saying a more streamlined approach to businesses would help the stock. Competition for AI products is already stiff, and investors worried Alphabet's AI blunders will put its search business at risk. He also said he's unhappy with the way the company carried out the NFL Sunday Ticket package, saying Alphabet didn't take advantage of huge advertising opportunities. To Cramer, Alphabet should follow Apple 's lead by cutting projects that may no longer be effective. Cramer said Apple was "embracing efficiency" with this decision, perhaps allowing the iPhone maker to put more resources towards generative AI.

CNN —A British film industry group has raised the age rating for the beloved children’s classic “Mary Poppins” over discriminatory language. “Mary Poppins (1964) includes two uses of the discriminatory term ‘hottentots,’” a BBFC spokesperson said in a statement to CNN. Even as “Mary Poppins” remains a treasured part of the cultural canon, the film has been criticized for trafficking in blackface. It’s partly in this context that the discriminatory language referenced by BBFC appears in the film. In recent years, the movie industry has grappled with how to handle racist or offensive content in classic films.

That’s because more employers are providing fertility benefits to their workers, opening up the costly procedure to many more Americans. However, most employers place limits on IVF coverage. The share of employers providing fertility benefits has likely increased since 2022 for several reasons, said Julie Stich, the foundation’s vice president of educational content. Some employers are providing fertility coverage to prevent these situations. In Chicago, It’s Summer in February

February is usually frigid perfection for the ice rink at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago, a favorite winter stop for tourists and local families that stands in the shadow of the reflective sculpture known as the Bean. Under an intense sun and 70-degree air temperatures, water slowly trickled out of the empty rink, flooding the surrounding concrete. Winter in Chicago — or the lack of it — reached an unnerving peak on Tuesday, when meteorologists predicted that the city could break a 48-year-old high-temperature record. Around the city, it looked like summer: Apartment windows were pushed open to catch the warm breeze. Restaurants set up tables and chairs on sidewalks for al fresco lunch service, a rare sight in a Chicago February.

Zoom CFO Kelly Steckelberg told CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday that the company is not just a video conferencing platform, saying it has successfully broadened its offerings. The great thing is that Zoom has tools to support them no matter where they are in that work journey." A staple for many during the pandemic, Zoom suffered as more people returned to offices and in-person events. Zoom CEO Eric Yuan lauded the success of the product during the company's conference call, saying it's "broadening the funnel into the Zoom platform." Steckelberg knocked Zoom's primary competitor, Microsoft , suggesting that some may be involuntarily shepherded into using the tech giant's Teams program.

In the wake of Nvidia 's rapid ascension, CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday picked companies he thinks could have a chance at breaking $1 trillion in market capitalization. Valued at a little more than $730 billion according to FactSet, drug maker Eli Lilly is Cramer's top contender. At $905 billion, Berkshire Hathaway comes in first and Tesla , which is worth a little more than $611 billion, comes in third, according to FactSet. Broadcom , which is currently worth about $606 billion according to FactSet, has potential because of its enterprising CEO Hock Tan, who Cramer said is adept at making acquisitions. "If that's the case, Nvidia might need to crack the $5 trillion mark before Broadcom crosses the $1 trillion threshold."

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday reminded investors there are many reasons to be optimistic about the current market, explaining why some companies beat Wall Street's expectations and are now seeing gains. Cramer named Domino's Pizza , whose Monday earnings beat propelled its stock, closing up 5.85%. Impressed by the chain's success despite an inflated economy, Cramer said the stock jumped because many investors didn't give Domino's the benefit of the doubt. CEO Nikesh Arora insisted Palo Alto's lowered guidance was due to a changing business model, not a lack of demand for its cybersecurity products. "These moves are all signs that are emblematic, not of a bubble, but of companies doing much better than expected," Cramer said.

The Federal Trade Commission on Monday sued to block Kroger, the supermarket giant, from completing its $24.6 billion acquisition of the grocery chain Albertsons, saying the deal would hurt competition in the industry. The agency said the deal, which would be the largest supermarket merger in U.S. history, would also likely result in higher prices for groceries for consumers and, with fewer supermarkets, reduce the ability for grocery-store employees to negotiate higher wages and better working conditions. “This supermarket mega merger comes as American consumers have seen the cost of groceries rise steadily over the past few years,” Henry Liu, director of the F.T.C.’s Bureau of Competition, said in a news release. “Kroger’s acquisition of Albertsons would lead to additional grocery price hikes for everyday goods, further exacerbating the financial strain consumers across the country face today.”The agency’s lawsuit is the latest move by the Biden administration to take a tougher stance on mergers. In recent years it has challenged several big deals, including the drug maker Amgen’s $27.8 billion acquisition of the pharmaceutical company Horizon Therapeutics; JetBlue’s proposed $3.8 billion purchase of Spirit Airlines; and Microsoft’s $70 billion acquisition of the video game maker Activision Blizzard.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump looks on at a campaign event in Waterford Township, Michigan, U.S., February 17, 2024. The Michigan contest is the final major race before the election calendar broadens dramatically on Super Tuesday, March 5. The results this Tuesday will be closely watched for any clues about where Michigan is trending before the November election. But primary voters in Michigan can pick "uncommitted," which could give some in his party the option of casting what is essentially a protest vote. Meanwhile, the Michigan Republican Party is trying to emerge from an internal struggle between competing pro-Trump factions.

"Today, I am calling on the Alabama Legislature to act quickly to find an immediate solution to preserve the availability of IVF in Alabama," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. The Alabama Supreme Court ruled last Friday that "unborn children" are included in a state law allowing for wrongful death lawsuits by the parents of deceased children. Trump's post followed waves of criticism from President Joe Biden and other Democrats, who say the Republican ex-president's involvement in canceling longstanding abortion rights laid the foundation for the Alabama ruling. At least three IVF clinics in the state paused their fertility treatments following the ruling, out of concern about their legal exposure. Democrats accuse Republicans of seeking to further erode abortion access and threaten related rights, pointing to the Alabama ruling as evidence.

Credit card debt is rising, and shopping for a card with a lower interest rate can help you save money. But the challenge is finding one. Smaller banks and credit unions typically charge significantly lower interest rates on credit cards than the largest banks do — even among customers with top-notch credit, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reported last week. But online card comparison tools tend to emphasize cards from larger banks that pay fees to the sites when shoppers apply for cards, said Julie Margetta Morgan, the bureau’s associate director for research, monitoring and regulations. “It’s pretty hard to shop for a good deal on a credit card right now.”For cardholders with “good” credit — a credit score of 620 to 719 — the typical interest rate charged by big banks was about 28 percent, compared with about 18 percent at small banks, the report found.

The approval of two gene therapies to treat sickle cell disease has given hope to patients who suffer from the debilitating disease, which overwhelmingly affects Black people and people of color. Sickle cell has forced him to leave his job and at times taken him away from his family. Still, he's hesitant to try the new one-time gene therapies because they require months of intensive medical preparation, including chemotherapy, to prepare patients' bone marrow stem cells for extraction and gene editing. Vertex Pharmaceuticals ' gene therapy Casgevy lists for $2.2 million, while Bluebird Bio 's treatment Lyfgenia lists for $3.1 million. Kanter said it will take time to ramp up capacity and to set up facilities across the country to treat patients at scale.

Tanger CEO Stephen Yalof told CNBC's Jim Cramer why tenant vacancies help keep business fresh for the the outlet chain. "Vacancy is critical, and we try to fill it with temporary leases," Yalof said. As Nvidia stock climbs to new highs, CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday told investors that sometimes, they need to ignore skeptics to find and stick with a winning stock. "A certain amount of skepticism is healthy, but if you're trying to make money in the stock market, you've got to believe in something." Cramer was an early Nvidia fan—going so far as to name his dog after the Big Tech company in 2017. Powered by voracious demand for its artificial intelligence products, Nvidia reported earnings on Wednesday that blew past Wall Street's expectations. To Cramer, many investors were too focused on "macro" events like the Federal Reserve's interest rate hikes to see the long-term potential of stocks like Nvidia.

US President Biden arrives to board Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on December 20, 2023, as he departs for Milwaukee, Wisconsin. President Joe Biden's $140 million campaign war chest has been bolstered by a group of loyal advisers and fundraisers that some party strategists call a "dream team" effort to defeat the likely Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump. "They have kind of put together a dream team in fundraising," said Jim Messina, who served as former President Barack Obama's campaign manager for his successful 2012 reelection campaign. Katzenberg has been speaking with donors to Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley and trying to recruit them to support Biden. But Katzenberg pointed to Haley's support in places like New Hampshire, where she won 43% of the Republican primary vote, saying that suggests there is a slice of the Republican party ready to move on from Trump.

"Dividend funds hope to offer dividend income. AdvertisementDue to their slower growth, dividend-paying stocks are often more reliable than growth stocks, making them a good addition to a young person's investment portfolio for diversification. For example, adding a few dividend-paying stocks to a portfolio of volatile growth stocks can offer diversification. Particularly for young people just getting started with investing, dividend stocks are a good way to learn, says Michael Dinich, a financial advisor. Dividend-paying stocks are also safe for the most part in comparison to growth stocks.
