(AP) — Carole Baskin, who became a pop culture sensation due to Netflix’s docuseries “Tiger King,” has asked the Florida Supreme Court to review an appellate court's ruling that said she isn't protected from a defamation lawsuit brought by a former assistant. Baskin last week asked the high court to reconsider its earlier denial of her appeal in the defamation case brought by Anne McQueen, a former assistant to her missing husband. A provision of the Florida Constitution and the U.S. Constitution conflicts with the appellate court's ruling, Baskin said in her filing with the Florida Supreme Court. The “Tiger King” documentary was about Joseph Maldonado-Passage, also known as “Joe Exotic,” a former Oklahoma zookeeper. Baskin also was a contestant on the show, “Dancing With The Stars” in 2020.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear Democratic Gov. Tony Evers' lawsuit against the Republican-controlled Legislature arguing that it is obstructing basic government functions. The court's liberal majority agreed to hear the case, with the three conservative justices dissenting. The court only agreed to immediately hear one of the three issues Evers brought forward in the complaint. The Legislature convened a lame duck session just weeks before Evers took office to weaken the incoming governor’s powers.

The group says that its membership includes two "full qualified, but white" West Point applicants. In asking the Supreme Court to immediately intervene, the challengers said that West Point's program is inconsistent with the Supreme Court's ruling last year. West Point has been considering applications since August and has already made hundreds of offers, Prelogar said. Lower courts declined to immediately prevent West Point considering race while the litigation proceeds.
