The short-lived rebellion prompted a furious reaction from his patron, Russian President Vladimir Putin, the usually cool modern-day czar. Long day covering a coup in Moscow on 1991, with @wolfblitzer and the legendary reporters Dick Blystone and Tom Mintier, with photographer Phil Turner. Our CNN Moscow bureau was teeming with action. In a famous image from August 1991, Russian President Boris Yeltsin rallies demonstrators against the coup plot against Mikhail Gorbachev. But even many of his opponents rejected the notion of a military coup.

Roszarubezhneft's five joint ventures now must rely on PDVSA-designated intermediaries that take a large share of the revenues for their services, the people said. The joint ventures are owed about $3.2 billion from sales handled by PDVSA, one of the people said. Roszarubezhneft, Russia's oil ministry, PDVSA and Venezuela's oil and foreign affairs ministries did not reply to requests for comment. It also could help PDVSA make progress toward its goal of raising Venezuela's oil output by 40% this year. Oil production at the five joint ventures has dwindled as U.S. sanctions have hampered investment and maintenance work, and deterred many buyers of Venezuelan crude.

Hollywood’s track record for portraying people with disabilities has been sketchy at best. There have been inspirational figures, noble martyrs and lovable oddballs — some of these performances garnering Academy Awards — but there aren’t a lot of people simply living their lives. The search for truly resonant disability representation in the history of cinema is continuing, but over the decades, many scholars keep returning to a perhaps surprising touchstone: a 91-year-old film set in a circus. Tod Browning’s most widely known work is “Dracula” (1931), starring Bela Lugosi, but the next year, he broke new ground with a movie featuring an extensive cast of actors with disabilities. Browning’s “Freaks” (available on most major platforms) centers on a close-knit group of circus sideshow performers who rally around a friend after he is betrayed by his lover, a trapeze artist.

Costco's famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo is more than a great lunch deal. It's an object of corporate mythology, an inflation-proof icon and, most recently, a TikTok famous T-shirt design. A quick Google search for "Costco hot dog shirt" brings up dozens of results from retailers all over the web with designs featuring the no-frills signage found in every Costco food court. They have rapidly spread across the web thanks to a viral TikTok from Eaton Print Shop. "I had the idea to draw it," Jacob said of the Costco signage.

Sylvester Stallone faced off against many foes in his decades playing the boxer Rocky Balboa, but he was no match for Adele. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Stallone revealed that the "Hello" singer drove a hard bargain when it came time to close the deal for his Los Angeles mansion last year. While the two had agreed on a $58 million price tag for the eight-bedroom, 12-bathroom 21,000-square-foot home, negotiations hit a snag when Adele revealed that she wanted to keep one of the home's most unique features. Stallone had planned to take the Rocky statue he installed overlooking the property's infinity pool, but was met with an ultimatum from Adele.

When it comes to picking a beer, I'm not exactly a snob. So when I read my colleague Ashton's report about the Bill Gates-backed startup brewing beer made with wastewater from showers, sinks and laundry machines in a luxury apartment building, I was intrigued. Epic OneWater Brew boasts that its beer is brewed using "highly purified recycled water." The wastewater from San Francisco's Fifteen Fifty apartment building is collected and passed through a series of "ultrafiltration membranes." After that, it's treated with chlorine and ultraviolet light.

NEW YORK, June 16 (Reuters) - Mali's interim military authorities on Friday asked for a United Nations peacekeeping force to leave "without delay", citing a "crisis of confidence" between Malian authorities and the decade-long U.N. mission known as MINUSMA. MINUSMA was deployed by the U.N. Security Council in 2013 to support foreign and local efforts to restore stability. "This situation is begetting mistrust among the Malian population and also causing a crisis of confidence between Malian authorities and MINUSMA," he said. Security Council members must adopt a resolution to extend MINUSMA's mandate by June 30. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres recommended this month that the Security Council extend MINUSMA's mandate for a year, maintaining the current authorized strength of some 15,000 troops and police.

He's a Grammy-winning rapper, successful businessman and a prolific actor who stars and produces in both TV and film. A 14-year-old artist got to live his dream when the filmmakers behind the latest "Spider-Man" movie asked him to work on the film. Preston Mutanga made waves earlier this year when he shared a video he made recreating the trailer for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" in the style of LEGO. The 2-minute clip went viral, finding its way to "Spider-Verse" writers and producers Chris Lord and Phil Miller. "It blew us all away, including some of the best animators in the world." When it was decided that the multiverse-hopping film would be adding a LEGO-themed sequence, the filmmakers reached out to Mutanga to offer him the chance to animate it.
