Reuters was not able to independently verify the union's claims and Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Union representatives met workers at the factory gates, on the platforms of nearby stations and inside the factory on Monday handing out stickers stating "Together for safe and fair work at Tesla". A day that began with air raid sirens blaring out in the early morning had by lunchtime turned into one of the most terrifying attacks Israel has known in the 75 years of its existence. Though Israel is no stranger to terrorist attacks, Saturday’s assault was unprecedented – not least because of the lack of warning. Since Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, it has spent billions of dollars securing the border from attacks. To stop rocket attacks, Israel has used the Iron Dome, an effective rocket defense system developed with help from the United States. The Israel Defense Forces have already begun airstrikes in Gaza targeting Hamas infrastructure, resulting in hundreds of dead and injured.

Washington-based startup Stoke Space raised $100 million in new funds, the company announced Thursday, as it aims to develop a fully reusable rocket called "Nova." Stoke's latest investment round was led by Industrious Ventures – with the firm's Steve Angel, chairman of chemicals giant Linde , joining the Stoke board of directors. While a number of U.S. companies are aiming to develop reusable rockets to compete with the success of Elon Musk's SpaceX, Stoke is taking a different approach from its rivals. Stoke is developing Nova to be a "medium" class rocket that can deliver 5,000 kilograms to low Earth orbit. That puts Nova in the middle of the launch market, between Rocket Lab's "light" Electron and SpaceX's "heavy" Falcon 9 in terms of capability.

But the move comes at a time when a new surge of migrants is straining federal and local resources and placing heavy political pressure on the Biden administration to address a sprawling crisis. Border Patrol reported nearly 300,000 encounters in the Rio Grande Valley sector between last October and August, according to federal data. Last month, Border Patrol apprehended more than 200,000 migrants crossing the US-Mexico border, the highest total this year. Over the last two years, his administration has continued to face fierce pushback from Republicans – and at times, Democrats – over his immigration policies. Senior administration officials maintain that the US has been in regular touch with Mexico over the situation at the US southern border, including commitments to shore up enforcement.
