“We apologize for this error.”On Wednesday, an account on X reposted pictures of two Delta flight attendants wearing Palestinian flag pins on their uniforms. Now imagine getting into a @Delta flight and seeing workers with Hamas badges in the air. What do you do?” the post read, falsely equating the Palestinian flag to the one flown by the militant group. The reply sparked a swift backlash from Delta employees and leaders in Palestinian and Muslim communities. However, effective Monday, the company will only allow US flag pins to be worn, Delta told CNN.

CNN —As a flight attendant for over 28 years, I’ve had my fair share of bumpy rides. Heather Poole courtesy Heather PooleI’ve spent a lot of time telling them that I wouldn’t be a flight attendant if I felt flying were unsafe. Lately I’ve noticed flight attendants are quicker to stop the service when we begin to experience light turbulence. If you’re a fearful flier and have anxiety, let a flight attendant know, and we’ll go out of our way to check on you if things get bumpy. And once again, Ladies and Gentlemen, a reminder from your flight attendant: Keep your #@$%&!

These stocks reporting next week have earnings momentum

Next week brings big earnings reports from heavyweight financials and a couple other Wall Street favorites, some of which have strong forward earnings momentum ripe for investment. For the quarterly period, the estimated year-over-year earnings growth rate for the broad market index is 8.8%, according to FactSet. If that comes out as the actual growth rate for the quarter, it will be the highest year-over-year earnings growth rate reported by the index since the first quarter of 2022, which saw a 9.4% growth rate, FactSet said. Companies with strong earnings momentum often show revenue growth, improving margins or cost reductions, making the stocks look more attractive. Take a look at the stocks we found below: Netflix , which is set to report its results on Thursday, has strong earnings momentum, according to analysts.

Delta Air Lines on Thursday forecast record revenue for the third quarter thanks to booming summer travel demand, but its forecast fell short of analysts' estimates as carriers discounted fares after expanding flights. Adjusting for one-time items, Delta reported earnings of $1.53 billion, or $2.36 a share, in line with analysts' estimates. Delta said corporate travel continues to increase and that most customers expect to maintain or grow their corporate travel spending this quarter and after. Revenue from international travel has been strong since the pandemic waned, though airlines have expanded schedules, meaning more competition for customers. In the current quarter, Delta expects to break more revenue records.

Read previewNASA said it has no plans right now to send one of Elon Musk's spacecrafts to rescue two astronauts stranded on the International Space Station. Speaking in a joint NASA-Boeing press briefing on Wednesday, NASA official Steve Stich said there had been "no discussion" about sending a SpaceX Dragon to pick up NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, stranded on the ISS aboard Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. The prospect of the astronauts being rescued by SpaceX would be humiliating for Boeing, which is competing with Elon Musk's rocket company to transport astronauts to the ISS. The aviation giant has lagged behind SpaceX, which completed its first crewed mission to the ISS with its Dragon capsule in 2020. Boeing and NASA did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider, made outside normal working hours.

Why the Fed is stressed about presidential elections
  + stars: | 2024-07-10 | by ( Nicole Goodkind | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +9 min
New York CNN —Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell sent investors mixed messages on Tuesday during his semiannual testimony to Congress. Powell is stressed about the election: Powell was asked by multiple senators about White House politics, which he dodged. While the Fed head noted that policy decisions are data dependent, “elevated inflation is not the only risk we face,” he said. The September Fed meeting will be “live”: Powell noted multiple times that every Fed policy decision is made “live” using the latest available economic data – in other words, decisions aren’t made in advance. About 75% of investors think the Fed will cut rates, and about 25% think they’ll remain the same.

A "good" price for something today may have seemed outlandish five years ago. A "good" price for something today may have seemed outlandish five years ago, and it's understandable to wonder whether today's price is just as fleeting. The whole idea of what's a good price for a 12-pack of carbonated soft drinks has changed dramatically over the past few years." Plenty of companies can move their prices, whether by using dynamic prices or downright raising prices, because they're the only game in town. The answer to getting accustomed to high prices is basically to forget what those numbers were in 2019.

CNN —A United Airlines plane lost a wheel while taking off Monday from Los Angeles International Airport, officials said, marking the latest issue this year for the airline, which was already the focus of a safety review by federal aviation officials. The Boeing 757-200 that lost its wheel completed its planned flight to Denver, where it safely landed, United said. “The wheel has been recovered in Los Angeles, and we are investigating what caused this event,” the airline said in a statement. The incident comes months after another United Airlines flight lost a wheel while taking off from San Francisco International Airport, damaging several cars in a parking lot. The incident was one of at least a dozen involving United Airlines flights in March, according to a CNN analysis, prompting CEO Scott Kirby to send a safety message to customers.

There are other reasons the dollar has been propelled higher as some European and Asian currencies have seen lackluster growth. A strong dollar makes US exports more expensive and reduces the profits of American companies operating overseas when earnings are converted back to dollars. And while a strong dollar lowers the cost of imported raw materials, it can boost inflation and hurt foreign investments. The families of victims of two fatal crashes of the 737 Max oppose the deal, the department said. Beyond the fatal crashes of the 737 Max jets, the company has faced a series of questions about the safety and quality of its planes.
