Every company has to start somewhere, and for Uline, that beginning was 1980 in the Illinois basement of Dick and Liz Uihlein. Dick Uihlein started Uline to sell a product called a carton sizer, "one of the neatest little tools I'd ever seen." Bit by bit, the Uihleins added more packing supplies to their selection and slashed delivery times to the minimum — a decade before Jeff Bezos launched Amazon. "It's weird to develop a love of corrugated boxes and shipping supplies, but I really enjoy it," Liz told the Milwaukee BizTimes in 2020. The Uihlein family as featured on the Uline website.

A 9th century gravesite unearthed in England suggests ancient settlers may have feared the undead. Researchers with the Museum of London Archeology discovered a 15-year-old girl buried face-down. Archeologists, however, discovered the Conington girl buried face-down in a pit that marked the entrance to the small settlement and believe her ankles may have also been tied together, according to the MOLA statement. Archeologists unearthed the remains of a 15-year-old girl in a Medieval settlement near Conington, Cambridgeshire several years ago. "Her burial rites may have reflected the nature of her death, or her social identity or that of her family."

CNN —Manchester City struggled but ultimately won the UEFA Super Cup for first time in its history on Wednesday night after a penalty shootout victory over Spanish club Sevilla. The win continues the club’s remarkable success over the past 18 months, having won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League last season. Manchester City players celebrate on the podium after winning the UEFA Super League. However, City was made to work for the Super Cup victory, struggling to break down a stout Sevilla defense. CNN —Analysis of the remains of a young Medieval girl, who was buried face down with her ankles potentially tied together, suggests extra measures were taken to ensure “she could not ‘return’ from the grave,” archaeologists have said. “To be buried face-down is thought to have been a social expression of ‘otherness’, a burial practice reserved for people considered outside of Early Medieval society,” MOLA said. MOLA Headland InfrastructureOsteologists – bone specialists – at MOLA found evidence to suggest the girl was of a low social status. She was buried in a pit that used to hold an entry post for the Early Medieval Gatehouse at the Conington settlement. Used boxes of Mifepristone, the first pill in a medical abortion, line a trash can at Alamo Women's Clinic in Carbondale, Illinois, U.S., April 20, 2023. Circuit Court of Appeals stopped short of ruling that the drug must be pulled off the market altogether, as a lower court had done. The three-judge 5th Circuit panel was reviewing an order in April by U.S. District Court Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk in Amarillo, Texas. They contend the FDA used an improper process when it approved mifepristone in 2000 and did not adequately consider the drug's safety when used by minors. The court also reversed the agency's 2016 decision to allow mifepristone to be used up to 10 weeks of pregnancy, up from seven.

Youssef En-Nesyri had given Europa League winners Sevilla the lead with a towering header in the 25th minute but City equalised through a header from 21-year-old Cole Palmer in the 63rd minute. Sevilla made last season's Champions League winners uncomfortable with aggressive high pressing and En-Nesyri wasted several opportunities before he scored following a counter-attack. Sevilla started the second half strongly, however, and En- Nesyri missed a sitter following a brilliant counter-attack led by Lucas Ocampos. We have to be more clinical but we got the job done," City captain Walker told TNT Sports.

Wheels Up avoided a possible bankruptcy when it secured backing from investors on Tuesday, including U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines (DAL.N). Two operators have closed down since May in the face of diminished traffic and higher labor costs could force some private-jet operators out of business. While private flying remains above 2019 levels, traffic has slowed since the pandemic, when wealthy passengers sought to avoid crowded commercial airports. The company, which provided third-party flying service to Wheels Up, faces a lawsuit from Wheels Up over a contract dispute. Jamie Walker, chairman of U.S. private jet operator Jet Linx, said he sees opportunity for both organic growth and acquisitions due to the softening marketplace.

A federal appeals court on Wednesday imposed restrictions on the abortion pill mifepristone, though the ruling will not have an immediate impact. The ruling by the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals is paused from taking effect until the Supreme Court makes a decision about the case. The appeals court Wednesday ruled that the several decisions the Food and Drug Administration took to make the abortion pill more broadly available to women were illegal. If the Supreme Court upholds Wednesday's ruling, women would no longer be able to obtain the abortion pill by mail. That is basically the narrative you all are putting forth — nobody should ever question the FDA," Ho said during the hearing.

In two weeks, the new school year will begin at Florida’s New College, the progressive public liberal arts school singled out by Gov. Hampshire College, a small private liberal arts school in New England, has offered financial aid to New College students so they can transfer without tuition increases. Last week, New College’s leadership announced that it was moving to abolish the gender studies department. Given that Rufo frames the New College takeover as a demonstration project to be repeated by red states nationwide, I’d expect attempts to scrap gender studies to spread. Rufo speaks a lot about academic excellence and the virtues of a classical liberal education.
