Police in Michigan are investigating after a car hit and killed a toddler who appeared to have left her home after being put to bed on Friday. According to a statement from the Michigan State Police, a 2-year-old girl “got out of her bed and walked out of the house” while her parents were working around the family’s home in Allen Township, a small community about an hour southeast of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Police were called at 8:20 p.m. about a “car versus pedestrian crash” and found the young child in the road. An autopsy will be performed on the child, Jackson Post Troopers said in the release, and the investigation is ongoing. Bedford, Ohio AP —An 8-year-old girl took an SUV from her Ohio home and drove for miles to a store where she was later found unharmed, authorities said. The girl, whose name was not released, and the vehicle — a 2020 Nissan Rogue — were reported missing around 9 a.m. Sunday, Bedford police said. Family members said they had last seen the girl at the residence about two hours earlier. The SUV eventually was found a short time later in the parking lot of a Target store in Bainbridge, which is nearly 13 miles (21 kilometers) from her home. Authorities did not say why she had decided to travel to the store or provide further details about her trip.

CNN —A critical witness in the original trial of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has announced she will testify in his upcoming retrial on criminal charges. After Weinstein’s conviction was overturned earlier this year, Mimi Haley, a former production assistant on The Weinstein Company’s “Project Runway,” said she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go through it all again. Haley alleged that Weinstein had pinned her down and forced her into a sex act in 2006 at his Manhattan apartment.
